A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND, JACKSON COUNTY, OREGON,
CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO SUBMIT TO THE VOTERS A FUNDING
INITIATIVE FOR CONTRACTING GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDED
INDEBTEDNESS FOR REPLACEMENT OF FIRE STATION NO.2 IN THE AMOUNT
OF $5,500,000.
RECITALS:
A. The City Council of the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon (the "City") has
determined that there is a need to finance the cost of capital construction and
improvements related to the replacement of Ashland Fire Station NO.2.
B. Costs are estimated to be $5,500,000 for capital fire station construction, including
costs of issuing bonds; now, therefore,
THE CITY OF ASHLAND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A special election is called for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
voters of the City the question of contracting general obligation bonded indebtedness in
the name of the City for bond proceeds to be used to finance the Fire Station NO.2
Project in an amount not to exceed $5,500,000. The bonds on the issuance would
mature over a period of not more than 20 years.
SECTION 2. The special election called shall be held in the City on November 7,2006,
in accordance with Oregon law.
SECTION 3. The City Recorder shall cause to be delivered to the Elections Officer of
Jackson County, Oregon, the attached Notice of Bond Election, not later than 61 days
prior to the election. The Election Officer is requested to give the electorate of the City
notice that the election shall be conducted by mail pursuant to Oregon law; and
SECTION 4. The City Recorder shall give notice of the election as provided in the laws
of the State of Oregon and the charter and ordinances of the City of Ashland.
SECTION 5. The City Attorney is authorized to alter the text of the ballot to comply with
any rules, procedures or practices of the Elections Officer of Jackson County to
impleme the requirements of Oregon law.
