Dear City of Ashland Council Members,
With great interest and enthusiasm I am writing this letter in support of this unique
Verde Village project for our area
While the long list of benefits to the people that will eventually live in this carefully
planned environment is important I have seen and learned of the benefits to
communities these types of projects bring. I have seen the Dolf Creek Development
in Portland, Northwest Project in Bend, and Iron Horse Resort in Prineville and
learned about Pringle Creek in Salem. Locally, Shady Cove has a development
starting that will use Energy Star and Earth Advantage standards for more green
and sustainable building practices in homes.
Our technology today affords tremendous possibilities for efficient, healthier, and
sustainable building practices. The communities that endorse these types of building
developments are providing valuable and sustainable futures for themselves.
A project that uses sustainable building science techniques and captures the
awareness of media and other Cities is appropriate and expected for the City of
Ashland. With the Cities attention to preserving the surrounding environment,
taking pressure off the grid with its use of solar power the Verde Village project will
blend well.
Consider the value this type of project will bring into the City of Ashland. A sought
after place to live in Verde Village, known for its energy efficiency in warm and cool
peak seasons. Less maintenance is realized on the grounds and buildings themselves.
Located close to recreation and shopping needs thus requiring less vehicle travel in
the area. All of this will increase the value of surrounding properties and set an
example for future projects throughout the Region.
Continued learning and growing in knowledge is part of my job being a Realtor. In
my study for certification as an EcoBroker@ and Earth Advantage@ Agent I have
learned a variety of things about the type of development Gary and Valri Williams
are proposing.
From my experience this will be a significant and viable project worthy of support
like no other in the immediate area.
Respectfully,
Don McCoy- EcoBroker@ Earth Advantage S.T.A.R. @541-261-3542
