HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-0707 Tree MIN Ashland Tree Commission th Minutes, July 7 2003 Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 5:05pm by chairperson Ted Loftus. Commissioners in attendance included Bryan Holley, January Jennings, Bryan Nelson, Jonathan Uto, Laurie Sager and Fred Stockwell. Liasions included Donn Todt from the Parks department and Robbin Pearce from Community Development. Site Review: Planning Action 2003-071 Bud’s Dairy on Clay street. Plant evergreens along the northeast edge of the property as a privacy screen and to deflect traffic lights. Remove blackberries to the property line along the northeast edge. Alternating tree types along each streetscape will give variety of color and seasonal variation. Other 1. Bryan Holley read an article about the impact of tree gender. This concept will be discussed in August. 2. Fred Stockwell shared aerial photos he has taken of Ashland and the surrounding area which show changes in canopy color and cover. Fred encouraged commissioners to keep his skills in mind for future projects. 3. January Jennings reported she would like to apply for a scholarship/grant to attend the ODF Fall conference in SunRiver. Topic is Tree issues. Staff will help get the paperwork together. 4. Ted Loftus will not be in attendance in August or October due to previously planned family events. 5. Mark Knox, planner will attend the September Tree Commission meeting to discuss sidewalk and other relevant issues. 6. The idea of Tree Commission changing its name was discussed and tabled until September. th 7. The Urban Forester committee planned to meet July 16 at 7:30am at Brothers Restaurant. Staff will research timeline for the budget process. Adjournment – Meeting was adjourned at 6:10 pm.
