Ashland Tree Commission
Minutes, April 6,2000
CII to order: The meeting was called to order at 5:15p.m. by Chair Rich Whitall. Additional
commissioners in attendance were Bob Kuenzel, Dan Moore, Donn T odt and Bryan
Nelson. Staff Robbin Pearce was also in attendance.
Approval of minutes: Minutes were approved as submitted.
Welcome Guests: John Freedom (442 Holly) and Bryan Holly (324 Liberty) were in
attendance to discuss the ordinance.
Old Business
A. Tree Ordinance Review - Prior to this discussion Donn T odt shared a video on
Urban Forests. The video outlined the whys and hows of Urban Forestry
Management and will be shared with the public at our May meeting,
B. Recommended Street Tree List - January Jennings will meet with staff before
the next meeting to finalize all data.
C. Goal Reviewed - Bob Kunezel moved and Rich Whitall seconded with
unanimous approval to accept the goals as amended.
D. Volunteer Day - April 13th, 4-6pm at the Hillah. fhe schedule is: 4 - 4:30-
Dan; 4:30 - 5 - Rich; 5 - 5:3- - open; 5:30 - 6 - Bryan. Staff will e-mail Greg
and January to fill the 5p slot.
E. Arbor Week Review - Staff reported the council presentation went well.
However, the tree trimming display scheduled for Triangle Park was cancelled
because the Tidings failed to print the announcement.
F. Other - There was no additional old business.
V. New Business
A. Site Reviews - Planning action 99-133 was not reviewed because the
application was incomplete. Conditions will require a revised landscape
plan to be submitted at the time of the building permit application.
B. Other -1)Name change - this item will remain on hold until all
commissioners are in attendance. 2) Procedure updates - staff is
now involved with pre construction conferences, preaps and final review
of Certificate of Occupancy.
VI. Adjournment - Meeting adjourned at 7:30pm.
