ASHLAND TREE COMMISSION MINUTES SEPTEMBER 5, 1996 b. If Sequoia is to be used as part of landscaping, it will need water soon since roots will be impacted by machinery and ditch. Note that large conifers are on Prohibited Street Tree List. c. Might consider using Armstrong Red Maple or other upright tree in front. d. Think about ground cover to replace southern most lawn area. e. Very clear and well thought-out landscape plan. 2. PA 96-099 (2225 Siskiyou Bv.) - Unable to adequately review due to the lack of information on the landscape plans. Commission made a list of requirements and will review it again next month. Recommendations include: a. Use trees of more upright stature along ingress/egress easement. Use at least two different species, perhaps European Upright Hornbeam or Chanticleer Pear. (For other possibilities check Recommended Street Tree List.) b. Try to save Persimmon perhaps by altering the roadway. Please pick up handout on "Protecting Trees during Construction" from the Planning Dept. c. Please enlarge the detail "Typical Landscapes". Specify species. d. P. Canariensis would not be appropriate to this climate. Maybe incense cedar or one of a number of other possibilities. e. Increasing width of tree parkrow lawns to 8' would allow larger stature trees and there would be less trouble with sidewalk lifting. Four or five foot parkrows would only accommodate small stature trees. f. Large oak on Siskiyou will need a lot of protection from ditching and machinery during construction process. Oak is located in ODOT's right-of-way. g. Please submit more detail for plans on riparian environment "open Space Corridor." h. Need to see a specific irrigation landscape plan. i.
