Arbor week went well; big turn out for tree of the year. Problems:
1. Tidings forgot to run our press release, we may have to buy publicity
next year.
2. Coordination was a little weak probably due to publicity snafu.
3. Kids did not make it to tree planting because someone forgot to get
parental permissions.
B. Tree Inventory _M Gordon will finish the inventory approximately the end of
May. Fifty percent of payment will be made upon completion. Imputing has
started and progress to full speed by the end of the school year.

Commissioners for review. This will be given to Bill Molnar and Don Laws for
guidance and comments as well.

review meetings and the process does not seem to be going well. David
Mason volunteered to be on the subcommittee. If this does not help the
process, reviews will be done in the regular Commission meetings.

made.

D. Cypress at Briscoe School -- David Mason volunteered to write a
letter to the City Administrator asking the Street Department to cut the
sidewalk in the presence of a Tree Commissioner.
E. Oak Knoll Golf Course -- Trees have been pruned severely; the
managers of the course are not doing a good job and do not seem to
care. Donn Todt notes that the City may take over the course
maintenance. The Tree Commission wHl have some recommendations
for maintenance at that time.
F. Linda Ryan and Donn Todt have volunteered to revise the
Recommended Street Tree List. Commission encouraged this effort.
Donn is soliciting comments.
G. Donn Todt would like to get together with the Historic Commission to
discuss the status of alleys in the city, native Oak tree preservation and
Siskiyou Boulevard plan. The Tree Commission was very enthusiastic
about this.
H. Forest Lands Management Commission now has Pete Sada as a
voting member (he must resign as voting member of the Tree
Commission). Commission asked him to attend our meetings as a
liaison. Susan Hunt is a non-voting member of the Forest Lands
Commission and is their liaison from the Tree Commission. As a note}
the Forest Lands Commission has a meeting May 15th at 9:00 in the
council Chambers for goal setting and tour of the forest; all are invited.

I. David Mason suggests that the city provide free planting and
wholesale-priced trees to homeowners. He has been doing this for years
here and in other communities using a backhoe. He could generate a
mailing list from street tree inventory now underway. David will review
street tree list and revise his letter.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
