The oouncil met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date.
Present: Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Applewhite, Blake, Gregg, Hansen,
Wenner. Absent: Ingle. .
The minutes of the previous meetings were read,and approved as
read.
Annual reports of the Librarian and Water Department were read,
accepted and ordered plaoed on file.
The hour of eight having anived, the Mayor announ.ed that bids
on the water pipes, hydrants, valves and fittings for the Boulevard
and Linooln street pipe lines would be opened. The bids .ere opened
and sinoe same_.'ad been checked by the Water Committee, it was moved
by Applewhite ~nd seconded by Blake that they be referred to the Water
Committee withpo'Wer to aot. Carried.
The reading of annual reports was resumed. Annual repprts of the
Light, Fire, Police Department and Recorder and the monthly report of
the Dump Ground were read acoepted and ordered plaoed on file.
Bills amounting to $7299.96 were read as to total amount only,
same having been aked by the heads of the various committees and the
finance committee. Moved by Applewhite and seoonded by Hansen that the
bills be approved for payment. Roll call was ordered, the vote being
Ayes, 5, Nays O. Carried.
A letter from G. M. Frost reoommending the cancellation ot interest
oharges against Charles Mack, provided he paid his cemetery accpunt up
in full was read. Moved by Wenner and seconded by Gregg that the reoom-
mendation be approved. Carried.
A letter from E. C. Biegel, Sup't. Electric Department requesting
authority to purohase an induction regulator for the city sub-station
was read, the estimated price being $1500.00, and competitive bids being
oalled for. Koyed by Wenner and seconded by Blake that ~e authority be
appro..d. Carried.
The City Attorney brought up the question of assisting the Southern
Oregon Normal School ~o attend the National Basket Ball Tournament at
Denver Colorado to the extent of $200.00. Koved by Wenner that the City
give $200.00 to send the team to the tournament. Seoonded. Roll call was
ordered, the vote being, Ayes 5, Nays 0.. Carried.
Committee Reporta:
~os~tai. Gregg reported that a laboratory technician wanted to
come 0 . e ooal hospital and same was agreeable to the Hospital Staff.
it being reoommended that the C6t7 fix up t he plumbing for the laboratory
to the extent of 130.00. Moved by Gregg that the City authorize the
expenditure of $30.00 for this purpose. Seoonded by Hansen. Carried.
The City Attorney read a proposed ordinance on the vacation of
property belonging to C.I.J.Porter and others on Skidmore street. MOved
by Gregg that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be passed to the
seoond reading. Seconded by Blake. Carried. Having been read the seconl
time by title only, it was moved by Wenner that the ordinance be adopted
as read. Seconded by Gregg. Roll oall was ordered on its adoption, the
vote being Aye. 0, Nays O. Carried. Thereupon the Mayor declared City
Ordinanoe No. gfV adopted.

The reoent tractor demonstration was discussed by Applewhite
and Biegel. Moved by Applewhite that the City oall for bids and
specifioations on four types ot traotors and complete equipment,
same to be submitted in time to be opene! at 8:00 P. M. Feb. 19. 19Z5.

The City Attorney brought up the question of allowing the Boy
Scouts to use the Council Chambers regularly on the first and third
Thursdays of eaoh month provided same did not interfere with any
speoial oounoil meeting. The request was made upon the suggestion
of Mr. Hedburg. )[ovedd by Wenner, and seoonded by Gregg that the
request be approved. Carried.
Mr-. Kork of Lybrand, Ross Bras aa4 Montgomery was present and
reported on ~he progress of ~he municipal acoounting system to date.
The necessity of instituting vacation proceedings on a portion
of land ad~olning the Ira Reeder property at 85 Second Street was
discussed,. DOved by Wenner that the hearing the proceedings be set
for February 19th. Seoonded by Blake. Carried.
On motion, the oouncil adJourned to meet at the call of the Mayor.
