Absent: Councilman Applewhite. ~inutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as reado ~onthly reports of the Dump Ground, City Judge, vity Recorder, and L~brary were read, accepted and ordered placed on tile. Payment of the Dump Ground being subject to approval by the Ghief of Police. A delegation. of business men were present to request the Uity to approve an expend~ture of $400.00 for material for the stage of the proposed E1iz~bethian Theatre on the site of the Chautauqua Building. Prof. I. E. V~ning spoke at length on the proppsal, urging approval. There was some discussion, finally resulting in a motion by Ingle that the City approve an expenditure of not to exceed $400.00 for material for construoting the stage of the prmposed Elizabethian Theatre and that the 4th of July Committee pay to City all excess revenues from the 4th of July celebration and make an accounting to the City. Seconded by Hansen. Roll call was ordered, the vote being Ayes 5, Nays O. Carried. A petition from business men requesting the fire-crackers, Jull 1 to 4th inclusive was read. it was moved by Hansen that the re~uest for fire and the ordinance concerning same be amendia to Law 0 Seconded by Blakeo Carriedo Moved by Ingle that in the future when the Chautauqua Building was used in any profit maki~g event that the City was to be paid a rental, the amaunt of which was to be determined bybthe oouncil. Seoonded bv Blake. Carriedo Mr. Minuel of the Pioneer Service Company was present and was asked to explain his colleotion and reporting service. Following his talk and some discussion, it was moved by Wenner that the Uity contract for one years servioe with the Pioneer Service Co. Seconded by Blake. Carried. "- A letter from the American Water Works Association convention re~uesting the City to send ~~. Hosler, Water Sup't. to the convention at Lewiston, Idaho was read. Moved by Wenner that the matter be referred to the Water Committee for aotion. Seconded by Hansen. Carriedo A letter from M. O. Wilkins, lawyer, Medford concerning sale of some timber land to the City was read. Following a brief discussion, it was moved by Wenner that Mr. Wilkins be advised that the City was not inter- ested. Seconded by Ingleo Carriedo Bills amounting to $6104.74 were read as to!ntotal amountconlYt. same having been oked by the Fmnance Cpmmdttee. The offer of Mr.tFran~)to deed a portion of a road back to the c1ty.and the road thr~. B. M. Heath's property were brought up and d1scussed, but no formal action taken. Realt{: The question of housing was discussed. J. H. Fuller re- ported tha the house at the corner of N. Main and Sheridan streets had been selected as a suitable one for the Yederal Housing Project. He stated that the60unty was willing to co-operate withthe City and remit . taxes if the City would remit their portion. Following a discussion, it 7as moved by Wenner that the City put in its equity on this property at $100000 to be used in the Federal Housing Administration project and to advance $50000 for the deed and abstract to the property which was to be held by the City as trustee and the City agree to distribute the proceeds from the sale of the property on a prorata basis with the other contributors, the 6ity to share on the basis of Cl50000 for its portion. Seconded by Blake. Carriedo Biegel repprted on the costs of re-plastering the ceiling of the City Hall as being about $75.00. Moved by Wenner that the City Sup't. have the ceiling re-plastered. Seconded by Blake. Carriedo Biegel presented the proposed new road project above the power house, showing tracings, etc. Action was deferredo Biegel reported on delinquent irrigation customers and read a pro- posed letter concerning payment of delinquent bills in connection with current bills. No action was taken, it being suggested that the same method as used in collecting domestic water be adhered to, viz, current bill plus t of that amount in addition on the arreaBS. The City Attorney reported on negotiations withthe Forestry Dep't for the road in thewater shed land. The following applications for building permits were presented:.
