Elake, Gregg, Hansen, Ingle, Wenner. Absent: None. Minutes of the previous meetings were read and ap~roved as read. Ionthly reports of the City Judge. Librarian, City Reoorder and Electric and Water Departments were read. aoae~ted and orderec plaoed on tile. Applications for the following building ~ermits were presented: .0. 16. ~o remodel dwelling at 487 Soenie Drive at an approximate cost of $250.00 by Frank Jordan. I0~ 170 ~o remodel' an4 rebuild porch at 171 East Main Street at an approximate cost of' $125.00 by W. D. Jackson of the Palace Luncho No. 18. To rebuild used oar lot and erect a service station at 50 North Main street at an approximate cost ot $2000.00 by H. L. Claycomb. Moved by Ingle that the permits be granted subJect to their oom- . plianoe with building requirements. Seconded by Blake. C~ri.4.In con- nect10n with Clayoomb's ~ermit. it was necessary to move an electric light pole. Moved by Applewhite that this matter be referred to the Eleotric Light Committee With power to aot. A representative of the Associated Oil Co. spoke oonoerning the leasing or buying of the triangular pieoe of land near their servioe sta tion' a t the Junction of the Boulevard and East Main Street. Moved by Applewhite thatbthe matter bel referred to the Realty Committee and the City ~ttorney. Seoonded by Wenner. Water: Biegel aSked authorization to ohange water charges forJ.rrJ.g- ation and domestic use following a re-oheok of protested charges. Moved by Wenner that the changes in water char~es be approved. Seoon"! by Applewhite. Carried. (A net reduction of i25 to $30.) Biegel suggested purchase ot ewuipment tor cleaning storm sewers by Water and Street Departmants. Motion was made and seoonded that these departments be authorized to ~uroJase this equipmento Carried. . The City Attorney reported on the Kelt1s Alta Avenue Sewer Lien, saying Kelts had turned the matter over to Bengtson. attorney, Meltord who was asking the City to reduoe the oharge about one-halt. There was some disoussion, b~t no aotion taken. Applewhite mentioned the advisability of having a representative oontaot the state Highway Department regarding the highway thru town. ~v.d by Applewhite that a representative oon~er with the Highway Com- mission regarding street improvements. Seoonded by Hansen. Carried.. . Realty:Ransen reported that the SERA wanted to use the Mission building for oanning for relief purposes. Considerable discussion followed, but no aotion was taken. ~ecial:An additional $40 to $ 00 was reported as necessary to complete th~ wiring of the Elizabethian Theatre. After some disoussion it was moved by Applewhite that the additional $50.00 be authorized for wiring. Seoonded by Ingle. Carried. The City Attorney read a prop..ed ordinanoe taken from the Medford ordi~oe on the lioensing of P~n and Ball games. No aotion was taken. Several matters oonoerning the policy of the City were brought up by the Reoorder upon the suggestion of the auditors tor deoision by the oounoil. Thele inoluded the tlllning: Should penalties on water and eleotrio delinquenoies go into the General FundI Authorization for the transfer tram the Electric Light to the Eleotrio Light Depreoiation Funa and the amount to be transfered. Approval of the utility budgets tor the yea~ 1935. Deoide to whioh fund interest on investments should go. !he owning of all general equipment by the GEm~ral Government. Handling ot duplicate oolleot1ons for assessments. Requiring the Park Board to submit monjh1l reports to the City Counoil as required by Charter. Disoussion tollowed, but no action was ta~n. The recommendation of the auditors of 880uring some additional help in the Reoorder's Office in re-classifying revenues and expenditures based upon the new olassifioation of aooounts from Jan. 1st to date, transfering the assessmenti reoords to the new ledger. eto was brought up by the Reoorder. Moved by Ingle that the seour~ 1ng ot additional help and applioations for same be referred to the Yinanoe Committee. Seoonded by Hansen. Carried. Upon the suggestion If the uity Attorney, it was moved by lle.nsen and seoonded by Gregg that the time for the hearing on the Orange Avenue vaoati~ proceedings be ohanged and set for the ne~t regular meeting of the ,oouncil.
