Ashland, Oregon, December 3. 1935
A regular meeting of the Common aouncil of the aity of Ashland was
held in the Council Chambers on December 3, 1935, at 7:30 P. M.. There
were present: Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Applewhite, Blake, Gregg, Hansen,
Ingle and Wenner. Absent: None.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Petitions and Communications:
1VlrS. Mahlsteh spoke for free water for a :Mrs. Kirkpatrick. It wa.s
moved by Applewhite and seconded by Hansen that the matter of free water
for Mrs. Kirkpatrick be referred to the Water Committee with power to
act. The motion carried, Ayes: 0, Nays: O.
The following reports were read, accepted, and placed on file:

It was moved by Blake and seconded by Gregg that bills in the total
amount of ilO,793.91, having been approved by the finance committee, be
allowed and that warrants be drawn for the ~ayment of. same in the severa1

family. The City A.ttorney was directed. by the Mayor to act as Hecorder
in keeping the minutes.
Uommittee Reports:
Finance Committee: A written report, concerning the cond.ition of the
Hecorder's office, signed by Wenner and Hansen, was read. Gregg explain-
ed he had not signed the report beaause he did not feel suffieiently
familiar with the affairs of the Recorder's office to sign a report
thereon. It was moved by Applewhite and seconded by Ingle that the re-
port be accepted and placed on file. Motion carried. ~~. Applewhite
presented a Resolution that was read to the Counoil preferring oertain
charges against the City Reoorder and setting December 10, 1935, at
7:30 P. Y. in the aounoil Chambers as a time and place for a hearing on
said charges. There was considerable discussion. It was moved by
Wenner and seconded by Ingle that the rules be suspended and the Resolu-
tion be passed to second reading by title only. Motion earried. Ayes:
5. Nays: 1. The Resolution was then read by title only. It was
moved by Wenner and seconded by Applewhite that the Resolution be adopted
as read. Roll was called on the Resolution, the vote being, Ayes:
Applewhite, Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Ingle and Wenner. Nays: None. The
Resolution was then placed in the hands of the Mayor for his signature.
Electric Light Committee: ait~Superintendent reported that the roof
on the City Warehouse was leaking and needed repair. It was moved by
Applewhite and seconded by Wenner that the City Superintendent be author-
ized to e~end not to exceed 375.00 for the repair of the roof. The
motion carried. Ayes: 6, Nays: None.
Water Committee: No report.
Street Committee: No report.
Realty Committee: City Superintendent reported that the ~ire Chief

and he had inspected the hospital and had determined th~t ~ tire proof
cabinet for the X-Ray films, could be built for ~55.00. City Attorney
reported that he had discussed the terms of a new lease with ~liss Losher
hospital superintendent. There was a considerable discussion. It was
moved by Wenner and seconded by Applewhite that the City Attorney. the
Realty Committee, and the City Superintendent constitute a committee to
negotiate a new lease with :Miss Losher. The motion carried. Ayes: 6,
.Nays: None.
Reports of Special Committee: The City Attorney reported on the activitiea
of the Committee appointed to handle the details relative to acquisition
and construction of the sewage treatment plant.
The Council adjourned to meet in the council chambers at 5 o'clock
P. M. on Wednesday, December 4, 1935.
