The Gounail met in regular session at 7 :30 P. li. this date. Pr,esent;

The mi~utes of the previous meeting were read. and approved as read.
Monthly reports of the City Judge, :gark Board. Eleotrio, \Vater and
street Departments and City Reoorder were read, aooepted and or'e~ed
plaoed on file and the annual report of the Fire Department likew~se.
Presentation of olaims and bills:
A bill ~rom J. F. Gillings as oourt reporter, Deoember 16 to 19. 191e
for t20.00 was presented. Moved by Gregg and seoonded by Blake that the
bill be allowed. Carried.
The Puruokerbill for *16.00 for servioes on the hospital oil burner
was again presented with ,the statement that Mr. Puruoker refused to aoo-
ept the compromise of 50~ which had been authorized at the previous
meeting. Moved by Gregg and seoonded by Hansen that the bill be paid in
full. Roll oall was ordered, the vote being, Ayes: Blake, Gregg, Hansen,
Ingle, Koozer. Nays: Swedenburg. .
Upon motion by Ingle, seoonded by Hansen, the bill from the Jaokson
County Abstract Co., was referred to the Finanoe Committee with power to

A letter from G. M. Green in which $25.00 for travel expenses was
mentioned was brought up. After some disoussion, it was moved by Sweden-
burg and seconded by Ingle that the bill be referred to the Finanoe Com-
mittee. Roll oall was ordered with the following vote: Ayes: Ingle,
Swedenburg. Nays: Blake, Hansen, Koozer, Gregg. Lost. . It was then moved
by Ingle and seoonded by Swede~burg that the City pay fl,.50. Roll oall
was again ordered with the following vote, Ayes: Blake, Ingle Swedenburg,
Gregg. Nays: Hansen, Koo,zer.
Oornmunioations:
A letter from the uregon state Board of Aero~autics relative to im-
proving the runway at the air port was referred to .the Air Port Committee
with power to act. H. L. Claycomb was present and discussed the grading
of the runway, following which, it was mOTed by Swedenburg and seconded
by Koozer that the improvement at the airport be authorized. Carried.
Standing Oommittee Re~orts:

vestigation, but no action was taken.
street: Koozer reported on the proposed lease with the Associated e
Oil Company, for the triangular piece of ground consisting of about 1420
square ~eet at the Junotion of the Boulevard and East Main Streetso The
oompany desiring to lease the ground for a period of five years at $5.00
per month and with the privilege of cutting down a tree which obstruoted
the view if necessary. ~ved by Koozer and seconded by Ingle that the
lease be approved on oondition that the tree be not removed. Carried.
Realtf: Hansen reported on the house on East Main Street, stating
that a iam~~y by the name of Fowler wanted to lease with the option to
purahase. No aotion was taken.
Indigents: The name of Mrs. Henrietta. Jones, 349 Mountain Avenue was
brOUght up for free lights and water. M.oyed by Koaz; er and seconded by

Councilman Hansen was exoused at this time and left.the ohamberso
Biegel, City Superintendent reported on the pump for the sewage
disposal plant, stating that he oould :purohase a Mora pump for $556.00

thru Dunn and Baker, Contraotors and get the government 45% grant from
the IPA. ~oved by Koozer and seconded by Blake that the recommendation
be aooepted for buying the pump. Roll call was ordered, the vote being,
Ayes: Blake, Gregg, Ingle, KDozer, Swedenburg. Nays: None. Carried.
Irrigation Committee: KOozer reported that the Committee had met
and tie metter discussed and that he had conferred with Mr. Ornspiger.

Counoilman Swedenburg was exoused at this time and left the chambers

that the appointment of. J. H. Fulleras City Judge be oonfirmed. Carried.
Additional allowance or available transportation for E. J. *Parlow
ot the Relief Office was discussed but no action taken.
The City Attorney stated that the Engineer and.~ and Baker, oon-
tractors were going to ask for an extension of time on contraot. It was
deoided to make no answer at this time.
Applioation ot Othel Lee for liquor license was ~esented. Moved
by Ingle and seconded by.Koozer that the application be granted.

Publishing of the annual finanoial statement was discussed. MOved
by KOozer that same be submitted to bIds. Seoonded by Gregge Carried.
The City Attorney read a proposed ordinanae on the o12ration o~
Pin Ball and other games. Moved by Ingle and seoonded by Koozer that
the rules be suspended and the ordinanoe be passed to the second reading
by title only. Carried. Following the second reading, it was moved by
Blake and seconded by Ingle that the ordinance be adopted as read. Roll
call was ordered on its adoption, the vote being. Ayes: Blake, Ingle,
Koozer. Gregg. Ha7S: Honeo Thereupon the Mayor de.olared City Ordinanoe
Noo 956 adopted. .
The City Attorney read another proposed ordinance on licenses in
general. Moved by Ingle and seoonded by Koozer that the rules be sus-
pended and the ordinance be passed to the second reading by title only.
Carried. Following the second reading. it was moved by Blake and seoond-
ed by Gregg that the ordinanoe be adopted as read. Roll oall was order-
ed on its adoption, the vote being, Ayes: Blake. Ingle, Koozer, Gregg.
Nays: None. Thereupon the MAyor declared City Ordinanoe No. 957 adopt-
ede
Upon motion by Gregg, seconded by Blake, the extension of 120 days
time from February 27. 1936 was granted the Superintendent of Banks and
the Mayor and Recorder were authorized to sign the necessary documents
tor the 01 ty ot Ashland. Oarried.
On motion the Council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor.
