The oouncil met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Pres-
ent: Ilay-or Wiley. Councilmen Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Ingle, Koozer,
Swedenburg. Absent: None.
Monthly reports of the Dum!, Ground., City JUdge and Library were
read. accepted and ordered plaoed on file.
Bills amounting to $13.518.23 were read as to total amount only.
same having been oked by the Finance Committee. Moved by Blake ani
seconded by Gregg that the bills be allowel. Roll call was ordered on
the motion, the vote being, Ayes: Blake, Gregg, Hansen. Ingle, Koozer.
Swedenburg. Nays: None. .arried.
The following building permits were presented:for a!,proval:
No.1. To erect a new building on Indiana street at an approximate
oost of tl000.00 by Wm. Renie.
No.2. To remodel dwelling at 224 Central Avenue at an approximate
eost ot $750.00 by Frank Jordan for W. H. Wenner.
Io. 3. To repair and remodel Baptist Churoh at 241 Hargadine at an
approximate cost ot tiOO.OO by V. O. N. Sm1th.
Moved by Ingle that the permits be granted, seconded and oarried.
The res1gnation ot R. W. Hall as ci ty pa trolman was read. Moved by
Ingle that the resignation be acoepted with a vote of thaaks for his
serviaes. Seoonded by Blake. Carried.
The Jlayor proposed the name of Clark Thomas upon the recommendation
of C. P. Talent, Chief to replace Hall. Moved by Koozer that the appoint.

A letter from Crescent City relative to their harbor was referred
to the Ashland Chamber of Commeroe.
A letter from Commissioner Clyde of Portland and a ..solution con-
cerning the action of the City of Los Angeles in 8tO~ptQg certain olasses
of people from entering C'alifornia was read. The letter urging the Ci ty
ot Ashland to pass a similar resolution to that passed by the City of
Portland. Moved by Swedenburg and seconded by Koozer that the letter and
r..olution be referred to the City Attorney to draw up a re801utio~!

The City Sup't recommended the application of deposits of consumers
to their delinquent accounts where they were no longer active by reason
of leaVing town or other oauses. Moved by Ingle that the deposits be
appl1e" as recommended. Carr1ed.
Hansen reported on the request of some for the use of vaoant oity lots
for gardens.
Kooser reported on his conferenoe with Mr. Ornspiger of the Talent

The adoption o~ a rate ~or all legal advertising was discussed and
\t was moved by Koozer that the rate be set at 5" per line. Seoonded by
$wedenburg. Carried.
Blake. Chairman 01 thr Finance Committee discussed the calling of
tlO.V.l.04of Sidewalk Improvement Bonds on April 1, 19~6 and moved ~hat
same be done. Seconded by Swedebburg. Carriedo

The lease of the City property on East Main street was read.
Moved by Ingle and seoonded by Swedenburg that the lease be approved
subJect 'to a olause being inserted re~iring the building be insm-etl
and the insuranoe be pail by the l...ee'. Carried.
The City Attorney discussed the Talent Irrigation District ex-
clu8ion order for the entire air port land .hiGh he had prepared. !he
question o~ retaining water 'er the orohard land was discussed and it
was moved by Swedenburg and seconded by Hansen that same be retained
in suffioient amount to irrigate this orchard. Carried.
The Keary Carter case was disoussed further and it was mOTed by
Koozer aM~~jS9"onded by Hansen that the City Attorney prooeed with the
Carter ~t. Carried.
A b111 from the CitybAttorney for fees in connection .iih the
sewage disposal plant... presented, amount $100.00. Moved by Blake
and seoonded by Gregll that the bill be paid. Roll oall was ordered.

Nays: None.
