M. this date for the purpose of considering resolutions for the plaoing of three charter amend- ments on the ballot. Present: Mayor Wiley. Counoilmen Gregg. Hansen, Ingle: Koozer, Swedenburg. Absent: Councilman Blake. . The City Attorney read the proposed resolution ,to amend the oharter by abolishing the Park Board. Following the reading; several members in the audience spoke against the resolution, ino1u4ing W. H. McNair. who presented a petition signed by over 200 voters, and Louis Dodge, Mrs. Arthur Peters, J. S. Bond, and C. N. Gilmore. Koozer spoke in favor of having the matter referred to the people. Following more discussion, it was moved by Koozer and seoonded by Swedenburg that the rules be suspend- e4 and the resolution passed to the seoond reading by title only. Carrie4. Following the second reading, it was moved by Koozer and seconded by Ingle that the resolution be adopted as read. Roll oall was ordered on its adoption, the vote being, Ayes: Gregg, Hansen, Ingle, Koozer, Swedenburg. Nays: None. Thereupon the Mayor deolared ~e resolution adopted. The Ci ty Attorney read 1h.e proposed resolution to amend th e oharter so as to permit oounoilmen to oontract with the city under oertain rest- rictions. Following some disoussion, it was moved by Koozer anit seconded by Hansen that the rules be suspended and the ~e.olution be passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the second reading, it was moved Ingle and seoonded by Swedenburg ~at the resolution be adopted as read. Roll oall was ordered on its adoption, the vote bang, Ayes: Gregg, Hansen, Ingle, Koozer.. Swedenburg. Nays: None. Thereupon the Mayor deolared the resolution adoptedo Sept. 17, 1936 No. 20 Disoussion tollowed as to how the resolutions submitting the proposed oharter amendments should be published, finally resulting in a motiin by ""'111 Swedenburg, aeoohded by Koozer that the resol ut- ions be published in both the Ashlam4 Tidings and the Southern Oregon Miner in order the give them the widest ~ublicity ~oss1ble. Carried. A proposal for the purohase of the L1thia Sprmngs ~roperty by R. B. Newbern suamittad by A. E. Reams, at~orney, Medford was upon motion by Koozer. seconded by Swedenburg. reJected.
