HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936-1106 REG MIN November 6, 1936 Noo 26 The oouncil met in regular session at 7:30 P..M. this date. . Present: Mayor Wiley. Councilmen Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Koozer, Sweden- burg. Absent: Counoilman Engle. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved as read. The monthly reports of the Librarian, City Judge and Dump Ground Sup't were read, aac~ted and ordered placed on file. Bills amounting to $9052.37 were read as to total amo~ts only. same having been oked by the various departmen ts and Finanoe Committee and waraordered paid. following the roll call of Ayes, Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Koozer, Swedenburg. Nays, None. The following applications for building permits were presented: No. 31. To remodel dwelling & office at 44 East Main street at an approximate cost of $100.00 by The Butler Thompson Co. No. 32. To remodel Swedenburg Building at 299 East Main street at an approximate oost of $1200.00 by F. G. Swedenburg. Moved by Koozer.seoonded Committee Reports: (Blake that permits be granted. Carried) E~eotrlo: Biegel stated that the switoh used in turning on and off the street lights had been in use many years and needed replacing and authority to purchase another was requested. Moved by Blake and seoonded by Swedenburg that the authority be granted. Roll oall was ordered, the vote being, Ayes:B1ake. Gregg, Hansen, Koozer, Swedenburg. Nays: None. Carried. street: Gregg spoke about the oondition of the street near Wightman. Realt~ Hansen reported that he had received an offer of $300.00 per acre from e Bellview Grange for a site for the Grange Hall on the Air Port property. Also a man by the name of Hoffman had offered $800000 for two aores with $50.00 down and $10.00 per month. Following some discussion during which Koozer recommended that the air port be surveyed and an aoourate map made. it was moved by Gregg that the air port property be surveyed and an up-to-date plat made showing all important features of the property. Seconded by Swedenburg. Carried. The root or the Mission was reported in need of repairs and the house oceupie4 by Oscar Talent, lessee at the air ~ort needed work done on the root. The matter was referred to the City Sup't to go out with a oarpenter and see the oondition and make recommendations. Mrs. Lou Roberts and Mrs. J. L. Mintle were recommended for free lights and water and free lights respectively and upon motion by Gregg. seconded by Blake was authorized. In the case of Y..rs. Mintle same to be effeotive until,the sewing room work started again. The Oi ty Attornej read a proposed ordinance regulating the hei.ght of limbs of trees ab ove the street. Ther e was some 4i soussiov" but no action taken. thr ordinance being tabled for the present. The City Attorney discussed the Henry Carter oase and read a pro- posed resolution authorizing the Mayor and Reoorder to enter into an agreement with Carter on behalf of the City of Ashland. Carried. Following the second reading, it was moved by Gregg and seconded by Sweden burg that the resolution be adopted as read. Roll oall was ordered on its adoption, the vote being, Ayes: Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Koozer. Swedenburgo !'lays: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared the resolution adopted.
