The counoil met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date.
Present: Mayor Wiley, Coun0ilman Applewhite, BJake. Hans en, Ingle.
Koozer. Absent: Councilman Swedenburg.
Minutes of the previous ~eeting were read and approved as read.

A bill for the City Band for 150.00 for servioes during the
Greater Ashland oelebration on July 17th was presented and upon motion
, by Ingle, seoonded by Hansen and, following a unanimous roll oall was

The following 'applioations for building permits wel'e presented,
No. 18. To remodel house at 762 A street at an approximate eost
of $400.00 by S~.8. Davies.
No. 19. To erect oleaning building in rear of 163 East :Main street
at an approximate oost of $600.00 by F. L. Smith, oontraotor.
Moved by Ingle and seoonded by Blake that the permi ts be granted
provided the dry-oleaning building be approved by the Chief of tlB Fire

F1nance: Bla e reported that 1ihe question of salary inoreases had
been oonsidered but that the committee did not think it wise to make
any inoreases at this time.
Water: Hosler reported that" the last water had gone over the dam.
Realt{: Ingle reported that a number of artioles suoh as hose.
ourtains ,ubs, ete were needed at the hospi tal, the total eost of whioh
would be about $100.00 inoluding some repaits. Moved by Koozer and
seoonded by Applewhite that the amount be authorized. The motion was
carried by a unanimous roll 0011. .
Adjustments totalling $42 .45 to active oonsum~.s acoounts and the
tr8.D8fer of $2' .40 from deposits to delinquan t aoooimts were JapprevEul
upon motion by Koozer, seoonded by Hamen and carried.
The City Attorney reported on the Sawyer oase and read an agree-
m,antoonoerning the settlement of tba CJt sa by installmenti pa~nts.
:Mr. Sawyer agreeing to. release the Oi ty of A.shland from all claims
f1)r damages due to asserted lack of wa tar for:'irrigation pvposee.
It was moved by Koozer and seconded by Han... that the agreemS'lt be
signed. Carried.
The City Attorney reported on t,he Josephine Wallaoe 08se, who was
inJured by a defectuve sidewalk at 171 North Pioneer Avenue ani. read a
resolution whiohowas prepared oonoerning the settlement of the case.
It was moved by Ingle &6d seoonded by BlakB that the rules be suspenA-
ad and the resolution be passed to the second reading by ti tle only.
Carrie do Following the seoond reading. it was moved by Applewhite and
seconded by Blake that the resolut ion be adopted as rea d. Roll oall was
ordered on the resolution, the vote being, A.yes: Blake, Ingle, Hansen,
Koo zer, Applewhite. Nays: None. Thereup on 1ihe Mayor deolared the resolut-
ion adopted.
Upon ~otion by Ingle. seoonded by Koozer, the Mayor and Reoorder
were authorized to enter into a lease of ..he C'ommunity Hospital to Will
W. Wood of xmamath Falls, Oregon. .,
Upon motion by Ingle aeeonded by Blake t a release from her bond was
authorized to be issued to Miss Ardath Losher former lease.. Carried.
