Koozer. Absen-t: Councilman Blake. The Ci-tizents Budget Commit1iee consisting of E. N. Butler. G. W. Dunnl J. H. Hardy, Frank Jordan. W. F. Knox and Fred Tayler were all present. The Mayor stated the purpose of the joint mee-ting was i;o pass upon the budget for the year 1938. J. H. Hardy was elected chairman and Fred Tayler. secretary. Copies of details of all estimated expenditures end estimated revenues for the year 'Were provided and taken up in order and discussed and adopted. Moved by Dunn and seconded by Butler that the estimates for the Council be approved for $730.00. Carried. Moved by Dunn andseconded by Butler that the estimaDes for the Mayor be approved for .211.00. Carried. Moved by Jordan and seconded by Tayter that the estimates for the Recprder ~e approved for $1165.00. Carried. Moved by Dunn and seconded by Tayler that the estimates for the Treasurer be approved for $600.00. Carried 0 Moved by Tayler and seconded by Jordan that the estimates for the Attorney be approved for $1230.00. Carried. Moved by Butler and seconded by Dunn that the estimates for Buildings be approved for $315.00. Carried. Moved by Tayler and seconded by Dunn that the estimates for the M\Ulicipal Court be approved for $248.00. Carried. Moved by Knox and seconded by Tayler that the estimates for Elections be approved for $85.00. Carried. Moved by Knox and seconded by Jordan that the es-tiIIates for Advertising be approved for $150.00. Carried. Moved by Tayler and seconded by Knox -that the es-ti.mates for Audi -ting be approved for $300.00. Carried. Moved by Tajler and seconded by Knox that the estimates .for the Engineer be approv- ed for $100.00. Carried. The Police Department estimates provided oonsiderable discussion particularly on the question of salaries. Hardy of -the Citizen 's Committee favoring increases in salary and Koozer of the Council opposing same. Following a full discussion. it was moved by Butler and seconded by Dunn that the estimates for the Police Department as recommended by the Council be approved. It was moved by Koozer and seconded by Hansen -t~t the estimates be amended by adding $432.00 for a moi;or-cycle. making a total of $9314.00 whioh ~ carried. Moved by Tayler and seconded by Dunn that -the estiIIates for the Fire Department be approved for $7205.00. Carried, Moved by Dunn and seoonded by Tayler tha t the e stima tes for the Street Depar'tm.ent be approved for $9415.00. Carried. The members of the Park Commission being present. it was moved by Tayler and seconded by Koozer that the estimate of -the Park Commission be reduced to $6462.00, same being wi thin the 2 mil limitation when estimates for revenues were considered. thus bringing -to total budget for the park for 1938 to $4537.00. Carried. Moved by Koozer and seconded by Dunn that the estimates for the Sanitary Department be approved for $427.00. Carried, Moved by Tayler and seconded by Jordan -that the estimates for Street Lighting be approved for $5000.00. Carried. Moved by Knox and seconded by Hansen that 'the estimates for Lithia Drinking Fount- ains and Pump be approved for $1025.00. Carried. Moved by Tayler and seconded by Koozer that the estimates for the Health Depar'tment be approved for $155.00. Moved by Applewhii;e and secinded by Koozer that ~he estimates for Miscellaneous be approved for $2505,00. Carried. Moved by Crandall and seoonded by Ingle thai; the estimates for i;he Library Depart- ment be approved for $4633,00. Carried. Moved by Crandall and seconded by App 1 ewhi te that 'the estimates for the Cemei;ery Depar'tmm t be approved for $4309.00. Carried. Moved by Koozer and seconded by ~en that the estimates for the Electrio Depart- ment be approved for $69,600.00. Carried. Moved by Applewhite and seconded by Hansen 'that tl'e estimates for the Water Depart- ment be approved for $53,370.00. Moved by Applewhite and seconded by Butler that tre budget as a whole be adopted. Carried. Fred Tayler. Secretary, Budget Committee. The Cii;izen&s Budget Conmittee having oompleted their services, were exoused am lef't the Council Cham.bers at 12:30 A. M. October 6th and the Council prooeeded to transact their regular bisiness. Due to i;he la-tene ss of i;he hour. it was decided to dispense wi i;h i;he regular reading of -the minu-tes of the previous mee-tings. Bills amounting to $9983.28 were read as to total amount only, same having been oked by the committee heads and finance comrnii;tee and upon motion made and seoonded and following a unanimous roll oall ware ordered paid. Property owners on Idaho Street desiringa sewer system., it was moved by Applewhite and seconded by Hansen that i;he neoessary legal noi;ices be published to notify the property owners of the intention to eons-truct a sewer as required by i;he Banoroft Aci;. Carried. The City Attorney read a proposed resolui;ion on i;he Taleni; Irrigai;ion District and it was moved by Hans en and seconded by Koo zer that the rules be sus pended and i;he resolui;ion be passed to the seoond reading by title only. Carried. Follawing i;he second reading, it was moved by Applewhite and seconded by Hansen that the resolui;ion be adopted as read. Roll oall was ordered on w motion, the vote being, Ayes: Ingle, Crandall, Hansen, Koozer. Applewhite. Nays ~ None. Thereupon i;he Mayor declared tba resolution adopted. Attest}, (Signed) J. Q.
