_The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Monthly reports of the City Judge for the months of March ani April were read,
aocepted and ordered placed on file.
Bills amounting to .9569.82 were read as to total amount only, same having been
oked by the various departments. committees and finanoe committee and upon mo~ion by
Koozer, seconded by Applewhite were ordered paid following a unanimous roll 080110
A proposed ordinanoe regulating r$ller skating was discussed oonsiderably and Mr.
Lay who was operating a skating rink at the armory was called upon conoerning the oboe
jeotions which had been received 'regarding the noise. No aotion was taken on the ore-
lnance pending investigation a8 to the real status of objeotions whioh had been reported.
No objeotors were present against the levying of special benefit assessments again-
at the property looated in Sewer District No. 42.
The City Attorney reported on the status of the Moon mill lease.
The following applications for building permits were presenteds
No. 20: To repair store at 37 North Main Street at an approximate cost ot #325000,
T. H. Simpson, by Frank Jordan.
No. 21 f To remodel dwelling at 30 North Seoond Street at an approximate oost of
$200.00 by D. S. Powell.
No. 22. To remodel dwelling at 167 Garfield Street at an approKimate C08~ of ~

The City Reoorder was instructed to advise the Coun'ty Clerk that the Ci'ty was Bot
interested in the purchase of the property on corner of Woblen(Scenio Drive) and Churoh
Streets, there being no liens agiimst thl property owing to the City.

for bronze plaques, Radio Club and Royal Neighbor Lodge was r.ead and upon motion by
CarBon, seoonded by Kooser the appropriation was allowed. Carried.
1'he report of the Fire Chief and Heal t.."1 Offioer was read conoerning the cOlldi tion
or the Coggins Mill. The report showed reasonable oOnditions of sanitation and noiae
for an industry of the. t type.
Clark Thomas, city patrolman who had just returned from'the Federal Bureau of
Investigation Police .A.cade~ at Washington. D. C. told of his cours. ot study and showed
pioture. of various phases of the work being done at the school.

being worn out.

Hockley, -We *. A. adminsitrator concerning projects for Ashland. Following some dis-
cussion, it was moved by Delsman and aeconded Wy Crandall that the Cii;y Sup!t outline
W. P. A. projects and plaoe applioations for them. Carried.
Water: Free lights and water tor Ben Nivison and Perry Bentley have been rec....endeCl
it was moved by Applewhite and aeoonded by Koozer that same be granted for the period
ending June 30, 1939. Carried.
Street: The paving of Granite Street with oil and granite, High and other streets
_a disoussed and the matter left with the City Suptt to check up.
A proposed ordinance authorizang the issu~o. of City Improvement Bonds tor Sewer
Distriot No. 41 was read and it 118.8 moved by Koozer that the rules be suspended andthe

A resolution authori~ing the oonstruction of Sewer District No. 42 was read. It
was moved by Applewhite and seoonded by Koozer that "the rules be suspended and the
reiolution be passed to the seoond reading by title. Carried. Following the second
rea.ding.. it was moved by Crandall and seoonded by Carson that the resolution be adopted
as read. Roll oall was ordered on its adoption. the vote being: Ayes. Delsman. Orandall.
Oarson, Koozer, Applewhite. Nays: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared "the resolution
adopted.
A proposed ordinance levying speoial benefit assess~..ta a~inst properties in
