The Counoil met in regular session at 7.30 P. M. this date. Present. Mayor Wiley"
Councilmen Applewhite, Carson, Crendall, Delsman, Koozer, :J:ayler. Absent: None~
Bills amounting to $8,561.54 were read a8 to total amount only, same having been
oked by the various departments, committees and finance committee and upon motion by
Koozer, seconded by Dels:aan and following a unanimous roll call were ordered paid.
The minutes of the previous meeting had been read and approved as read.
The following applications forbuildi~ per.mits were presented:
No. 29. To remodel ta.vern at 101 East ain S1:;reet at an approximate cost of
$225.00 by Frank Jordan.
Ne. 30. To remodel store at 391-393 East Main Street at an approximate cost of
$500.00 by A. F. Barraclough.

No. 31. To remodel and paint store at TO East ain Street at an approx1nate cost
of $500000 'by Hexmy Mett and F. H. Richards.
It was moved by Carson and seoended by Delsnan that the permits be granted.Carried.
F. H. Walker. City Engineer spoke on the importamoe of having all deed. and
vacation preoeedings on streets and alleys recorded in order that the maps in the ass-
essors office would be changed aocordingly. Considerable diseussien followed which
resulted in a motion by Tayler that the matter be referred to the Street Committee,
C1 ty Attorney anl City Engineer for investigation and report. Seconded by Delsman.
Carried.
Committee Reportsl Street:
Koozer reported cn the Grani-ce Street paving project.
Applewhite reported the danger on the High Drive due to laok of guard rails.
The Simpson gas pump on Morth lIdain street was disoussed.
Fire I Delsna.n reported the cost of the fire ala.rm system at about $1,000.00"

Chief Baughman discussed the code syste~ which was being. considered.
It was moved by Koozer and seconded by l'ayler that the City install a fire alarm
system. Carried.
It 'W8.S moved by Koozer and seoonded by Crandall that the City file a protest with
the ~elephone Company, Communications Commission and Public Utilities Commission as
previously su~gested. Carried. The Ci-ty Ati;orney being instructed to dn.f't the necessary
papers.
Realty. Expenditures for hospital, cemetery 81ld other agencies brought tor-th the
advisability of having the budget requests in early this year and it was moved by
Applewhite and secondod by Delsnan that the call for the 1940 estim:ltes by thB various
departments be made. Carried.
The report of the activities of Gordon Claycomb was read concerning his work in
adve rtising the City of Ashland thru various national agencies which he had contacted.
On motion.. the Council adjourned to meet at the call of the ~yorl
