The counoil me-t in regular session at 7,30 P. M. this date. Present. Mayor Wiley.
Councilmen Carson" Crandall, Delsman. Koozer. Absent: Councilmen Appln-hite" Tayler.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
The semi-annual report of the Police Department for;; he period ending June 30.
1939 was read, accepted and ordered plaoed on file.
This report brought up the question of the regulation of traffio entering a1Xl
leaving the City anl Carson IIB.de the suggestion of placing signs at either end of the
City to caution dri'Vtl rs as to the ir speed. Upon motion by Crandall. aeoonde d by Delsmsn
the natter was referred to the Street Committee" City Superintendent, fWd Chief of
Police for investigation and report.
The monthly reperls of the Electric" Water" and street Departments and City Recorder
for the month of June, 1939 were read. accepted and ordered placed on file.
The question of securing an additional police officer from the State Police head-
quarters at Medford was brought up and following some discussion" it was moved by
Crandall and seconded by Delsman that the Mayor take the necessary action to try and
secure another State police offioer to reside at Ashland. Carried.
The following applications for building permits were presented:
No. 32: To remodel kitchen at 710 Pennsylvania Avenue at an approximate cost of
tlOO.OO by Mrs. Leona Boyd.
No. 33,: To remodel store at 53 North Main Street at an approximate cost of $225.00
by Frank Jordan.
No. 34: To buil! addition to service station at 1320 Blvd. at an approximate cost
of .400.00 by Mrs. Vera L. Homes.

Commit"tee Reports:
Electric & Water: The transfer of deposits to delinquent accounts totalling
t44.30J accounts transfared to inactive acoounts 8JD.Ounting ;;0 $44.45 and adjua_nts
to consumers aocounts amounting to $10.20 was authorized upo~mo"tion by Koozer. second-
ed by Delsman and carried.
Special Committees:
Rodeo: Koozer brough"t up "the possibility ot using the air port property "to hold
rodeos and oonsiderable discussion followed. The idea was well received, bu"t no defini"te
a.c"tion was "taken.
House Numbering: Upon mo"tion by Koozer, seconded by Crandall. "the City Superin"tend-
ent was authorized to set up a project for numbering houses so that the numbers would all
be consistent with other house numbers similarly located on paraliU s'treets. Carried. .
Band: The suggestion for a band oommittee on the COUTl.oil having been brought up
at the council meeting on June 20th" the Mayor thereupon appointed the following as a
band eommi"t"tee: Crandall, ohairman" Carson. Koozer.
A def~nite date for the oalling for the estimates for the 19&0 budget was se"t for
August 16th, 1939.
