The Com(cil met in regular session at 7,30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley,
Councilmen Applewhite, Crandall, Koozer, Delsman, Tayler. Absent: Councilman Carson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
The monthly report of the C1 ty Judge for August was read, accepted and ordered
placed on file.
Bills amounting to $15,719.91 were read as to total amountbonly.. same having been
oked by the various departments, committees and finance commdttee and were ordered paid.
The following applications for building permits were presented:
No. 32: To shingle dwelling at 116 Central Avenue at an e.pproxil~te cost of
10U.00 by W. S. Stenne~~.
No. 33: To erect woodshed and garage at 606 Oak Street at an approximate cost of
#220.00 by W. P. Bellus.
No. 34: To remodel dwelling at 427 Palm Avenue at an apprOXilllS.te cost ot
$2500.00 by E. O. Smith for Dr. & Mrs. Walter Redford.
No. 35: To erect dwelling and garage on Meade Street at an approximate cost ot
$250U.00 by E. O. Sndth for Mr. & Mrs. Richard Neill.
No. 36, To remodel dwelling at 147 Central Avenue at en approximate cos't of
$800.00 by Kroeger and Lahr.
It was moved by ~ozer anfseoonded by tayler that the permits be granted. Carried.
Committee Reports:
Finance: The purchasing of $33,000.00 in government bonds was disoussed.. to replace
$33,OOO~O in Ashland Water Bonds held by the Electric Fund and the cancellationof the
water bonds. It was moved by Kooser and seconded by Tayler that $33,OOO.Ou in govern-
ment bonds be purchased and $33,OOU in Ashland Water bonds be cancelled. Carried.
Electrio: An eleotric rate sohedule provilling for a cut in the present rates
which had been studied at a prebious informal meeting and de04ied upon generally was
brought up for vote by Crandall. It was moved by Delsman and seconded by Applewhite
that the new rate reduction be adopted. Carried, following a roll call of Ayes: Koozer,
Delsman, Crandall and Applewhite. Tayler, present.. but not vo:ting.
Upon motion by Koozer, seconded by Tayler, the hearing 01;1 the vacation prooeedings
on Blaine and Emer'ck Streets scheduled for to-night was postponed until the next
meeting. Carried.
Upon motion by Tayler" seconded by Applewhite, the City Attor.aey.. Ci~ Suplt.~
Councilman Crandall and Mayor Wiley were selected to cpmposea rep08w on the electric
rate reduotion for publication. Carried.
Street: Taking out of the parki,ng on Second and Third Streets near Main Street

Realty: Payment bl Mr. Flurr:\r of tor the amount--owing by September 15th and the
balance, -ee-tober 1st for the Moon Mill property lease wasxreported as having been

arranged. !.,
Water: Water purification was discussed by Mr. Hosler, Sup't.
Bridge: A 50-50 payment for the )fountain Avenue bridge by the City and County was
reported, pending a decision of the Attorney General.
Delsman reported that BatterytlBn was ,leaving with 110 men soon for a years' train-
ingand asked that the City s'tart a mess fund with a $100.00 donation. It was moved by
Delsman and seconded by Koozer that the donation be authorized. Carried.
On motion.. the Council adjourned to meet at the cell of the Mayor.
