The Counoil met in regular aessioll at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present: Acting
Mayor Koozer, Counoilmen Applewhite, Daugherty, Putman, Redford, Selby. Abs.at:
Mayor Wile y.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Bills amounting to $8993.83 were read as to total amount only, same having
been oked by the various departments, committees and finance committee and were
ordered paid.
Monthly report of the City Judge was read, accepted and ordered placed on
file.
The following applications for building permits were presented:
No.5: To ereot house and garage at 1020 Henry street a.t an approximate oost
of $300.00 by H. V. Nidever.
No.6: To remodel dwelling and garage at 363 Laurel street at an approximate
cost of $500.00 by E. T. Newbry.
No.7: To remodel dwelling at 77 Granite Street at &n approximate cost of
$150.00 by Howard W. Oden.
No.8: To ereot a ohurch on Wast Main street at an approximate cost of
$1200.00 by Rev. L~o C. Wine.
No.9: To remodel dwelling at 430 Liberty street at an approx~[ate cost of
$200.00 by V. G. Barnthouse.
No. 10: To erect cold storage and paoking house at Helman and Water streets
at an apprOXllnate oost of $25~OOO.OO by Earl T. Newbry.
No. 11: Constructing new bath room at 770 Elkader Street at an approximate
cost of $250.00 by H. F. Blanton.
It was moved by Daugherty and seconded by Putman that the permits be gran ted.
Carried.
Dr. Gordon MacCracken was present and entered a oomp1ai~t against the Ee O.
Smith dog. The dog is enolosed in a rilllway along side of the Smith house next to
Dr. MaoCraoken t s, and barks ('o"ltinuously. It was referred to the Polioe Department
for attention.
Attorney Briggs made a report on' his trip to Salem with Mayor Wiley in regard
to the purohase of City Bonds. The State lowered the price of the bonds by removing
the brokers t fee. The price "Was considered too high. No further aotion was taken.
1~~"City Attorney read a letter from Mayor Wiley regarding salary inoreases
for ~ emp1oyeeci. After some disoussion it was moved by Daugherty and seoonded
by Redford that the inoreasesbe granted.
The City Attorney read a report of the aotivities of the Armory oommittee
showing a subst~tial balanoe on hand to oarry on any neoessary repairs.
The City A torney also reported that the W.P.B. in Washington, D.C. had turned
down the applioation of the Gas-Ice Corporation.
Viewers were appointed for the sewer on Morton street. The viewers were
F. H. Walker, Clarence Lan.~ and J. A. Langtry.
The Ci t:y Attorney was instruoted to gi. va the Barney Wrecking Yard eight hours
notice to clean sorap iron and cars from in front of their place of business.
Penalties on the sewer assessment on the Henry Haines property ware cancelled.
