The minutes of 'the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Monthly reports of 'the Eleotrio. Street and Water Depari;ments were read. aocepted.
and ordered placed on tile. al so the report of the Polioe Department tor the period
troll. Jan.. 1 to June 30. 1944 inclusive.
The budget tor -the Ci-ty of Ashland a8 originally presented to 'the County Assessor
having been oonsidered 1;0 exceed the 6% limitation by approx1.ma1;ely 11600.00 was dia-
oussed. fhe opinion of 'the At-torney General being 'that 1;he six months fiscal period
oomprising 'the first six months or the year 1942 oould not be doubled in de'termining
'the amoun't .t -the budget .r one .-r the three year. previous 1;0 the present year. but
instead. this halt year plus halt ot "the previous year(1941)would have 1;0 be added in
arriving at the 8ighest ot the three years under oonsideration.
A :aew ordinanoe having been prepared with the levy of the General Fund reduced
.1600.00. making a total levy of '40.245.00 tor the new year.1944-4:5 was read by the
City Attorney. It was moved by Redford and seconded by Daugh8~ty that the rules be
suspended and the ordinanoe passed to the seoond reading by title only. Carried.
FollowiDg the second reading. 1 t was moved by Applewhi'tie and seoonded by Koozer -the:t
'the ordinanoe be adopted as rae. and following a unanimou8 roll call. the Kayor
deolared Oi ty Ordinanoe Bo. 1 adopted.
The C1 ty At1iorney read the . roposed new lease on the hosp! tal and following 80_
discussion as 'to its provisions. it was lDOved by Koozer and aeconded by Daugher'ty'
that the lease be approved bu't wi:th provision tor a IJIOn'thly finanoial atat_ent on
'the operations. Carried. following a unanimous roll oall.
