Redford, Selby. Absent: None. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Bills amounting to $11.576.60 were read as 1;0 "total amount only. same having been oked by the various departments, coBlIli -ttees and finanoe co.m.roi ttee and upon motion by Applewhite, seconded by Redford were ordered paid. Request for endorsement on application for license 1;0 'the Oregon Liquor Control Commission was granted1J~.J}1r . Forsythe.. purchaser of the Blue Bird Pool Hall upon motion by Selby, seconded by~ and carriedo Mro A. C. Joy was present and spoke on the Talent Irrigation Dis1;rlct and the water 'shorta.ge. As he was contemplating increasing his truck gardening opera.tions and having in mind 'the employment of several boys after the war. he stressed the need for more wa te~/r'-S8e,';all~.. . ,. ,under 'the City of Ashland oontrac"t. As he hR. d been a member Gf the ~~_Qf"Dir..ctors when it was first organized. he gave an interesting history of its development and asked that step be taken by the City to get its full ahare of water. He further stated that the attitude of the T. I. D. that it was coni'erring a tavoron "the City 01' Ashland in letting it have water was all wrong. and 'tha"t ha.d it not been for the City of Ashland. it is doubtful if the district could have organized at e.11. Following a discussion as 'to how best to approaoh"the matter. i't was moved by Selby and seoonded by Daugherty that the Water COIllInittee. City Attorney. City Sup'to. and Mr. Joy meet wi t..lJ. the T. I. D. for a. preliminary disoussion. Carried. The monthly report of the Ci'ty Judge for the month of October was read~ acoepted and ordered plaved on rile. Committee Reports. street: Biegel reported that the street sweeper had arrived. It was moved by Da\lgherty and seoonded by Selpy that having been found satisfaotery.. 'tha't the City purchase it for '4.250.00. Carried. Realty: Repairs to 1n~e Ci"ty Hall ceiling with bids of '48~.00 and $523..10 with a five year guarantee ha.ving been offered. it was moved by Koozer that the lowest bid be acoejted. Seoonded and carried. Utili1;ies: The reduction of the Consumers' Accounts balance by $1357.08 as record- ed in the books at the warehouse. in order to agree with 'the aotual 8onsumers' Acool.mts balance at the Reoorder's Office was authorized upon motion mada~ seconded and carried. A contribution of #250.00 to 'the Ashland High Sohool Band Uniform Fund to eomplete the quota was approved upon motion by Selby. .eeonded by Daugherty and carried. Contribution to the War Chest Fund was not approved. The following applications for building permits were presented: No. 52: To repair business building at 81 North Main Street at an approximate cost of $1.000.00 by H. J. Leveque. No. 531 To erect dwelling on Beach street off of Ashland street at an approximate cost of $1.800.00 by A. B. Sohak. No. 54 t To ereo't residence on Meade Street at an approximate cost of ,saO.OO by Mary E. GroVl. No. 55: To ereot open garage at corner third and "B" S'treets a1; an approximate cost of 1300.00 by 'the Whittle Transfer Company.
