The Council met in regular session at 7.30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley.
Councilmen Andrews. Daugherty. Merrill. Putman. Redford. Absent. Councilman Selby.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved a s read.
Dr. C. A. Haines was present and was called up to explain -the reason why he an.
Dr. Poston were giving up the hospital on April 1st as announoed recently. Dr. Haines
told of the uncertainty of the lease in that it oould be canoelled by the tirst party
after a 30 da.ys written notioe. A new form ot lease for tive years at no rental was
submitted by Dr. Haines for oonsideration by the Council and Dr. Haines left the Coun-
cil to oonfer further wi"th lIr. Smi. th and Dr. Poston who were not present.
The monthly report of the City Judge aDd Library were read. aooepted and ottdered
plaoed on file.
Bills amounting to .8.931024 were read as to total amount only. same having been
. oked by the various departments. committees and finance committee and upon motion by
Merrill. seconded by Redford were ordered paid.
The following applioationsfor building per.mits were presented:
No.7: To erect new dwelling at "Iowa and Bridge S'treets at an approximate oost of
of .3.000.00 by Raymond Klavanoo
No. 8: To remodel garage at 415 Wightman Street at an approximate eost of $358.00
by Clyde N. Caton.
No. 9. To erect offioe building on 1400 block. Siskiyou Boulevard at an approxims:te
oost of $300.00 by N. B. Hull.

The purchase of the former Dodge Undertaking Parlor as a fire station was introduc_
ed. but following a report by -the fire ohier that it would not be "i:Ab1e. it was not
considered further.
A letter from the Pacific Tel & ~e1 Co. showing a total gross revehue of .30.363.35
from tolls received from the servioe in the City ot A.shland was read. The City receiving

A petition signed by over 90% of the property owners frQxrt;ing on both sides of
Sheridan Street asking that the city vacate a 15 toot strip on either side of the street
was approved upon motion by Andrews. secohded by Kerri1l aDd oarried.

Fires The purchase of 500 feet of fire hose was approved upon motion by :M:errill.
seoondedby Putman and carried. '300.00 to be paid out of Fire Dep't funds and $200.00
trom the Energency fund.
Upon motion by Daugherty. seconded by Redford. the payment of bill for fire patrol
was approved. Carried.
Upon motion by Daugherty ~ seconded by Putman. the oonstruction of a sewer on Iowa
Street from Bridge to Wightman street was approved. Carried.

Dr. Haines dth Dr. Poston and Mr. 8m! th. manager of the hospital. returned to the
meeting and Dr. Haines oon'tinued to explain his proposal. Following whioh. the City
