Absents Councilman Andrews. Minutes of the previous meeting 'Were"'ltTead and approved as read. Monthly reports of the Electric. Street and Water Departments and City Recorder and six months report of ~he Police Department were read. accepted and ordered placed on fileo A le~ter from the Ashland Ministerial Association protesting against the showing or oarnivals in the Ci tj. ot Ashland was read and referred to the City Attorney for reply. Committee Reports: Electric: A re-newal of the contract between the City of Ashland and the Califor... nia- Oregon Pgwer Co. having been received. it 1W.S moved by Daugherty and seconded by Redford that the contract be referred to the Ci1;Jr Attorney and if OK to be signed by the Mayor and Recorder for 'the Cit~t of Ashland. Carried. Fire: Fire hazzards caused by weeds and other material on vacant lots prompted the motion by Merrill, seconded by Daugherty that the lots be cleared up by the Fire Department if necessary and ~he expense assessed against the property owners. Carried. Water: The Li this. Water supply was discussed at lehgth and methods of aupen-ting the present supply considered. A leak in 'the pipe line near the springs was one cause. The purchase of 2500 teet of pipe for use in increasing the lithia water supply was approved upon motion by Merrill. seconded by Putman and carried. The purchase of the Dwight Patterson water right was discussed. This right was sufficient to irrigate about 30 acres ot land. Ii-. was understood that Patterson wanted an e:rfer on it and upon motion by Pu'bnan. seconded by Kerrill, the Uttter was referred to the City Superintendent to work out a deal and report back to the Council. Carried. A long range water program was disoussed. one plan being a series of dams up. the oanyono Realty: Air Port: A Class 1 or a Class 2 airport for Ashland and the fact that Ashland would be eligible for federal aid when appropriated was reported. Hospitals It was reported tr~t the hospital supplies were sold for about $3.000 with 11,000.00 paid down. The $1.000 not as yet received however. Pl8.tm.ing COllunission: The C1 ty Attorney made a report on the meeting of the Planning Commi~sion recently held. The old Planning Commission ordinance was read and disoussed. The following applications for building permits were presented: No. 41: To remodel house and cabin at 371 MOuntain Avenue at anapproximate eost of $500000 by W. J. Collis. No. '2: To erect garage on Laurel Street, just across the track. at an approximate cost of .200.00 by R. E. HOleman. No. 45: To erect double garage at 56 Granite street at an approximate eost of $500.00 by L. L. Summerlin. No. 44: To remodel dwelling at 129 Granite Street at an approx:ima te cost of $500.00 by R. A. Mac Dermot't. It was moved by Merrill that the permi 1;s be granted. Seconded and carried. On motion. the Council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor. Attest I (Signed) J. Q.
