The Council met in regular seasion at 7.30 P. M. this date. Present. Mayor Wiley,
Councilmen Daugherty _ Kerrill, Putman, Redford, Weitzel. Absents COlmcilman Selby.
The minutes ot the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
MOnthly reports ot the Electric, Street and Water Departments and City Recorder
were read, accepted and ordered plaoed on tile. -
The tollowing applications for building permits were presented:
1'00 101: To ereot garage and chicken house on Pine Street at an approximate cost
of $200000 by E. J. Egli.,
No. 102: To erect garage and one room at 1024 East -ain street at an approximate
cost of $300.00 by Mrs. E. P. Blaokmun.
No. 103s To erect dwellinc and garage at 83 Pine street at an approximate cost
of $2500000 by George Cunningham. . .
.No. 104: To erect dwelling and gartge at 1230 Ashland Street at an approximate
cost of .6,000000 by E. J. Matteson.
No. 105: To erect duplex apartments on Lot 6. Helman Street at an approximate
oost of $6.000.00 by C. G. and Bessie SDdth(O.V.Davis). .
No. lOG. To ereot dwelling next to 501 MOuntain Avenue at an approximate oost of
$4,600000 by Louise K. Siebert. . , . "
No. 107s To erect shop at 1280 Iowa;:; Street at an approximate coat of $140.00
by S. J. Daly.
It was moved, seconded ani carried th&t the permits be granted. No. 101 being
subjeot to investigation. however, to see if it complied with ordinahces requiliing
same to be not less than 75 feet from any dwelling other than the applicants, or public
street.
The tollowing renewals of licenses having been oked by the Chief' ot Police. were
approved by the COlmcil,
Log Cabin, Sateway Stores. !l.E. Kaegl and Ben Anderson.
E. R. Hosler, Water Sup't. asked for a few days vacation which was approved upon
motion, :made aDd seconded and carried. .
The lithia water stoppage was discussed and the City Attorney instructed to call
Mr. Newbern at Seattle to find out what was being done about it. It was repor~d that
the pipe which had been ordered was finally on the way.
Committee Reportsl
Street. Various street projects were discussed and the City Sup't showed maps of
the proposed Winburn Way entrance and the "B" Street extension and following some
discussion. it was moved by Merrill and seconded by Daugherty that the "B" Street
extension b. approved. Carriedo ...
The Winburn Waj' improvement was also approved upon motion by Daugherty, seconded
by Weitzel and carried.
.......~-~ealtyl TIle payment of the balance on the Kiser property and the deeding of same
to the City was approved.
A letter concernin g the licensing of taxi cabs in Ashland was read and discussed.
A letter from C. Me Frazier asking to purchase or lease the old Pioneer Builaing
in the Park(Block Bldg.) was read. Mr. Frazier wanted to use same as an employment
office for returning veterans. P.-ling information 8,S to the status of the building,
no aotion was takeno
On motion, the Council adjourned to meet at the call of tlle Kayora
