The Counoil met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley.
Councilman Daugherty, Fisohborn, Merrill, NosIer, Redford. Absent: Councilmn Weitzel.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read tnd approved a s read.
MOnthly reports of the Eleotrio and Water Departments and City Reoorder were read.

Harry Skerry, attorney at law, representing Johnson's Cab of 340 East Main' Street
asked that a franchise be given Mr. Johnson. Following Some disoussion, it was moved by
Merrill am seoonded by Redf'ord that the matter be referred to the Street Comni ttee and
Polioe Department for investigation and repprt. Carried.
In oonneotion with the parking situation near the Zarka Servioe Station. following
some discussio" it _was moved by Fisohborn and seoonded by Nosler that the parking be
eliminated o:fl)r!ast Main Strea~ between 4th Street and Siskiyou Boulevard. that a pedest-
rian oross walk be painted aoross East Main Street from the 4th Street side to the Zarka
Servioe Station and that the park row cin Sia ou ulevaad be removed and paved Dear

A letter from. Supt~ Linn of the City Sohools. equesting that bus loading areas be
painted yellow in front of the High Sohool, Junior High Sohool, Linooln School and the
Washington Sohool and in baok of the Junior High Sohool on East Main Street for two
Sohool buses. It. wa s moved by Fischborn and seoonded by Merrill that the request be ,
approved. Carriedo
A letter from Mrs. Mabel Barber conoerning the need for oi ty bus servioe and two
letters from Elmo N. Stevenson, President, Southern Oregon College, one oonoerning the
need for immediate oity bus service and the other on the subject of noise oaused by the
trucks on the hig~way. Vonsiderable disoussion followed on both subjeots. The Ci~
Attorney reparted on his eff crts in getting bus servioe, but without avail.
Committee Reports.
Water. Mayor Wiley reported that he had reoeived protests frolu people who had paid
their irrigation on a flat rate in advanoe and then were.charged on the meter rate in
Septembero The matter would be adjusted in oases of this nature.
The City Attorney read a proposed resolution authorizing the sale of the 10 aores
in the Axel tract to Sohool Distriot No. 5 for .12,600.00. Itv...was moved by Merrill and
seoonded by Redford that the resolution be passed to the seoond reading by title only,
the rules being suspended. Carried. Following the seoond reading, it was moved by
Daugherty and seoonded by Fisohborn that the resolution be adopted as read and following
a unanimous roll oall, the Mayor deolared the resolution adopted.
Petitions for the oonstruotion of ourb, gutter and paving on Henry Street .from
Liberty Street to Mjountain Avenue and ourb. gutter, paving and sidewalks on Avery Street
and Wisoonsin Streets having been reoeived, it was moved by NosIer and seoonded by Fisoh-
born that publioation of intention be published. Carried.
There being no one present to protest at the hearing set for to-night on otger
peti tions for oo.nstruction work.. the work was ordered to prooeed. .
Th~ opening up of a street in the Foster traot was approved upon motion by
Daugherty, seoonded by Redford and carried. .
The City Attorney read a proposed ordinanoe amending Ordinanoe No. 1063. with relat-
ion to the Marginal Business Distriot and with the use of land bJ.- ~. It was moved by
Fisohborn and s eoonded by Daugherty that the rules be suspended and ~e ord3nanee passed
to the seoond reading by title only. Carried. Following the seoond reading, it was moved
by Fischbo~ and seoonded by Redford that-the ordinance be adopted as read and following
a unanimous roll 08011, the Mayor deo tared City Ordinanoe No. 1089 adoptedo
