The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley,
Councilmen Daugherty" Fischborn, Merrill, NosIer" Redford. Weitzel. 4bsent: None
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Bills amounting to $60,685.89 were read as to total amount only" same ha'bing been
oked by the various departments, committees and finance oonunittea and were ordered paid.
Leo Hunt made an offer to operate a city bus servioe for $45000 per day for a 365
day service. The City to receive all fares and Hunt to pay all operating costs. Two bus-
es would be provided. The matter was referred to the Street COliUnittea, City SUpl t and
Ci ty Attorney to meet with the Chilmber of Conmeroe Committee on bus lines to oonsider
its possibilities. Motion being made by Fisohborn" seoonded and carried.
The City Attorney reported on the offer of the Forest~J Department for tripartite
deal' whereby the City of Ashland could exchange i iB timber land for another pieoe of
timber which would be sold and the City of Ashland would receive $32,844.72 for the
ti.mber thereon. It was moved by Redford and s eoonded by Weitzel that the matter be refer-
red to the City Attorney for report. Carried.
TheCi ty Attorney read a letter from the Oregon State Board of Aeronaut1b.oa asking
that the marker on the Oak Street Tank and Steel plant be changed to point to the air
port. It now points to the old airport. On motion by NosIer, seconded by Weitzel, the
majtermvas referred to the City Suplt to have marker changedo Carriedo
A petition against the proposed oonstruction of street imprivements on 8th Street
was referned to the Ci~ Sup't on motion by Fischborn, seoonded by Redford and carriedo
An offer from the Julius Kock heirs for the City to keep the $7,500.00 they now
have. plus about about $3.000 in cash in exchange for the release of any olaim against
the business building at Centralia, Washington was submitted by the City Attorney. On
motion, by Merrill, seconded by Weitzel" the matter was referred to the City Attorney
and Finance Committee for report.
The offer of C. Raymond Foster to gi va a strip of land on Park Street for street
purposes and a petition for the extension of South Mounta.in Avenue to the City Limits
signed by Mr. Sohutte and o:hhers affeoted was read. It was moved by Fischborn and seoond-
ed Redford that au~~orization be grantedo Carried~
Committee Reports: Realty: It was rep<?rted that Mr. Clark had requested that his
lease be extended and that he be given all available land for one year on the cemetery
traot. The request was granted upon mot1on by Daugherty, seconded by Fischborn and
carriedo
The City Attorney read a proposed ordinance assessing variobs properties in the
Ci tjr for ourbs ani gutter s ani pavements. It was moved by Redford and seconded by Fisoh-
born that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be passed to the seoond reading by
title only, Carried. Following the seoond reading, it was moved by Weitzel and seconded
Merrill that the ordinance be adopted as read and following a unanimous roll call, the
Mayor deolared the ordinanoe Id6pted. Noo I 0 9 () .
On motion by Fisohbcrn. the parking strip in front of the Ashland Auto Parts on
North Main Street was authorized to be ~oated. Seoonded and Carried.

The City Attorney reported on the sale of timber. stating he had heard from Mr.
Yanouoh and that the money for the timber sale" $32.844.72 would be reoeived m out the
first of the ~ear if aooepted. It 'was moved by RedBord and seoonded by Merrill that the
offer be aooepted and following a unanimous roll all. -the aooeptanoe was confirm.ed.
Z The Mayor stated that he wished to deed a pieoe of property 30 feet wide and 505.75
teet" long on his prmperty near the Arthur pro perty for road purposes. A oopy of a petition
having been reoeived protesting against this road and oontaining 26 signers. the matter W'ai
oonsidered briefly" but it was moved by Fisohborn and seoonded by Merrill that since most
of the signers on the petition were not affected by the road. -that the petitmmn be not
aocepted. Carried. It was then moved by Redford and s econda:l by Daugherty that the
City acoeptl the deed for this road. Carried.
The Vi ty Attormey reported on several plans f'pr a city bus line as follows:
Leo Hunt to operate oity bus for $45.00 per day. Cit,y to reoeive all fares. Hunt to
pay all operating expenses. Servioe 365 days per year. City to own the buses.
Clem White same terms and conditions as above for $20.00 per day or $25.00 and the
Cm~raotor furnish a bus.
Re~uest of Evergreen Bus line to pick )tp passengers within oity limits. Service
every 1-2 hours.
Al Schneider interested in a franchise.
Looal tax's giving some service to sUlents at a lot rate.
Kate Neil asked that the City deed I).er a small pieoe of p:r.operty near her hotel.

seoonded by Merrill. that; the propertjr be deeded to Mrs. Heil. Carried.
A request by Horace C and Lillyan R. Leland for the releas e and quit claim of an
easement for right-of-way for irrigation ditch by the City of Ashland having been made
and since this ditch was no longer used;' it was moved by Daugherty and seconded by Fisoh-
born that the request be grahted. Carried.
A proposed ordinance amending Sectio~of City Ordinance No. 1082 whereby the location
of the Mololeum was changed was read by the City Attorney. It l'E\S moved by Daugherty and
seconded by Merrill that the rules be suspended and the ordinance passed to the second
reading by title only. Carried. Following the second reading. it was moved by Fisohborn
and seoonded by Merrill that the ordinance be adopted as read and following a unanimous
roll call. the Mayor declared City Drdlnahce No. / :' (: .: adopted.
The transfer of Deposits in the amount of $301.50 to delinquent acoounts was author-
ized up::>n motion b31 Redt>rd. seconded by Daugherty and o~ ried.
Upon motion by MBrrill. seconded by Daugherty. the appointment of a special oollector
for delinquent assessments was authorized. Carried.
