The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present:
Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Daugherty, Fischborn, Merrill, Nosler, Redford,
Weitzel. Absent: None.
The minutes of, the prev~ous meeting were read and approved as read.
Mo~thly reports of the City Judge and Librarian were read, accepted
and ordered placed on file.
Bills amounting to $108,286015 were read as to total amount only,
same having been oked by the various departments, committees and finance
committee and were ordered paid.
Ao L. Harvey, consulting engineer for the filtration plant ,made a
~- report on the progress of the reservoirso
Commi tte~ Reports: . Street :~H lliams, Chief of Police made his
report on the granting of a bus stop in front of the Steak House and the
Street Committees recommend~tion that the request be not granted. Follow-
ing this report, it was moved by Fischborn and seconded by Redford that
the recommendation of the committee be accepted. Following a statement
of a representative of theBu~ Line and more discussion, it was moved
by Nosler and seconded by Fischborn that double parking f9r the bus in
front of the Steak House be granted. Carried.
A letter fronl G. M. Green asking that the 01 ty excavate' his' lots
on Fork Street and using the dirt to widen the stree't .in exchange for a
deed to the City for a 10 feet strip of land along the frontage of his
property was reado Upon motion made and seconded the request was granted.
Carried.
,The City Sup't. stated that the Boy Scouts wanted to build next to
the Legion :rIall on u\finburn "v'Jay, but the fire limi ts would have to be
changed in order to permit this. Upon his recommen~ation for changing
the fire lirni ts , it was moved by Fischborn that the recommendations be
followed for changing and the City Rttorney.~repare the ordinance to
ma.ke the change in the fire zone. $econded and c~nriedo
The City' Sup't.' stated that several changes i'n,.the hospital had
been requested by the State Fire 1~rshall and a reply as to what would
be done about it not later than Dec. 18th was required. It was moved
by. Wei tzel and seconded by l'J"osler that the matter pe referred to the
Realty Co~ittee, City Sup't. and City Attorney to! confer with the
Doctors and make an estimate of the costs involved. Carried.
The City Suptt. requested authority to buy a car of poles -for
$2,785.00 and it was moved by Fischborn and seconded by Merrill that
. a.uthority be granted. Carried.
The City Attorney and W~. Mayberry, S. P. Agent reported on the
stock yard lease and use, and it was moved by Nosler and seconded by
Weitzel that the ma~ter be referred to the Rea.lty Comrrittee. Carried.
Leases to the Fir ~urling& Planing Co. (Reynan) and the Cotton
Mill at $300.00 per year was discussed and it was moved byRedfo~d and
seconded by IVIerrill that the leB.ses be authorized and accepted. Ca.rried.
The City Attorney reported that 1~s. Thompson had requested that
parking be stopped at the Cottage Grocery as some h~d started to run
away and had gone into her house. The matter was discussed. A curb be~ng
suggested as the most practical v'Jay to stop this.
I The qity Supt. reported that a four way clock would cost from '
$3000 to $5000.00 Application to the Liquor Control Commission for
licenses were approved for the following: Greyhound Tavern Fred Buehling
Co~k'~ Reception, White Hous~ ~ocery, Allen Autry, ~lk's 6lub, Log Cabin
and ~files & Hampton(replacing Greyhound Tavern) Motion made by Merrill,
seconded by F1ischborn and ca.rried.. '
Mrs. Arthur talked about the cost of ourbs and gutters .on -her
plaoe.
On motion, the Council adjourned to meet at the oall of the Mayora
