The council met in adjourned session at 7:30 P. ill. this date.
Pr-esent: lfuyor Wiley, Councilmen A~plewhitet Blake, Gregg, Hansen,
Ingle, Wenner. Absent: None
A ~roposed ordinance levying a tax for the year 1936 in the sum
of $65,548.00 was read. Moved by Wenner and seoonded by Blake that
the rules be suspended and the ordinance be passed to the second read-
ing by title only. Carried. Following the second reading, it was moved
by Blake and seconded by Hansen that the ordinance be adopted as read.
Roll call was ordered on its adoption, the vote being, Ayes 6, Nays O.
Thereupon thr 1myor declared the City Ordinanoe No. 949 adopted.
A proposed ordinance re~iring the Reoorder of the City of Ashland
to notify the County Assessor and County Clerk of all delinquent spec-
ial assessments and docketed city liens was read. MOKed by Blake and
seconded by Wenner that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be
passed to the second reading by title only. Following the second read-
ing, it WdS moved by Ingle and seconded by Hansen that the #'~fJj'#"
ordinance be adopted as read. Roll call was ordered on its adoption,
the vote being, Ayes 6, Nays O. Thereupon the Mayor deolared City
ordinano e No. 950 adopted.
The City Attorney reported on the Henry Carter case with the City
in connection with the se:ptic tank on Mountain .Avenue, stating that he(c'Qll,
was willing to arbitrate the matter.
The chunging of the bond of Provost Bros. on the Hospital heating
plant from a surety bond of an approved SlITety company as specified in
the specifications to a private bond was discllssed. Moved by Wenner
that the requirement of the surety bond being from a surety company
be waived and a personal #", surety bond be accepted on the Hospital
heating Dlant contract. Seconded by Blake. Carried.
Hansen reported that the radiators in the hospital should be paint-
ed in order to match the new radiaDmrs which were being installed and
stated that Provost Bros. would do it for $3.00 :per radiator. The matter
WdS referred to the City Superintendent for action.
The Mayor stated that there being a full counoil present, he wanted
bring up the questidln of the recorder's salary and recommended that it
be set at $150.00 retroactive to July 1st, 1935~ After some discussion,
it was moved by Gregg that the recorder's salary be set at $150.00 per
month retroactive to July 1. 1935. Seoonded by Blake. Roll call was
ordered, the vote being Ayesl Blake, App1ewhi tet Ingle J Hansen, Greggo
Nf'Js. Wenner. Carried. . . .
