HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957 Planning MIN REPORT TO THE COMMON COUNCIL from ASHLAND PLANNING COMMISSION In accordance with published notice, the Ashland Planning Commission held a public hearing on Monday, January 7, 1957, at 8:00 P.M. to hear arguments for or against the proposed amendment to Ordinance 1053 adding a new section to be known as Section 13, providing for off street parking space. After calling the meeting to order promptly at 8:00 P.M., Chairman Harold Buck read aloud the proposed amendment and then offered the floor to anyone who wished to present arguments either for or against said amendment. Inasmuch as no one present at said meeting voiced any comment one way or another, the Ashland Planning Connnission here1rlth forwards to the Ashland Common Council the copy of said amendment with the recommendation that it be adopted. Chairman Buck then called for a report from the eommittee appointed to investigate the petition for vacation of Fern Street between Mountain Ave. and Elkader Street.. After the ensuing discusslion, the Planning Com!llission recommends to the Common Council that said petition be denied and recommends further that said portion of Fern Street not be constructed until such time as Mountain Ave. is improved with paving, curbs and gutters from Pleasant Way to Prospect Ave. and at such time F'ern Street a.lso be improved with paving, curbs and gutters, provided that it is the wish of the Common Council indicated by need for access to cut Fern Street through. After calling the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. Attorney Skerry read aloud the proposed amendment and then offered the floor to a.'1yone who wished to present arguments either for or against said amendment.
