Present, Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Fischborn, Merrill, NosIer, Redford, Wei'tzel. Absent: Councilman Daugher'ty. Ci'ty A't'torney Briggs reported 'that he found 1'1; would s~ expense '\;0 change the da'te ror 'the annexa'tion election 'to June 20, 1947, in order 'to include 'the Samford land on Peachey road in 'the eleotion call, as well as eleminate 'two election calls and 'two ballots. Thereupon, the City At'torney presented and read the following resolution: " Calling a speoial eleo'tion within 'the limi'ts of the Ci'ty of Ashland, Jackson Coun'ty, Oregon and wi'thin 'the limi'ts of oer'tain ereas adjacen't to 'the present boundaries of the Ci'ty or Ashland, which areas are described herein, to be held on the 20'th day of June, j 1947, 19471 submitting to the electors or the Ci'ty of Ashland, and to the eleotcDs in 'the 'territory herein described proposed to be annexed, the ques'tion as 'to whe'ther said 'territory shall be annexed 'to and inoluded in the corporate limi'ts or said Ci'tyl defining 'the boundaries of 'the 'territory proposed to be annexed I providing for notice of elec'tion, ~of the hours, pIece, date, polling places~ and judges thereof and thererore; and declar- ing en emergenoy." Upon motion duly made by Redrord, seconded by Fischborn and unanimousl carried, the said resolu'tion was passed 'to i'ts seoond reading by title only. Following 'the second reading, i't was moved by Redford and seconded by Fischborn 'that the resolution be adopted as read and following a unanimous roll call, the Mayor declared 'the resolu'tion adopted. Mr. George Knox appeared before the council regarding the conneo'tion 'to the sewer from his new building at 'the corner of Main and Oa~ S'tretts. He reported 'that by reason /" of the faot that the present sewer could no't be used by his building withou't greatLaddi't- ional expense for connection, he wanted assistance from 'the city. The counoil discussed 'the si'tuation, found same caused undue hardship on Mr. Knox and upon mo'tion by Wei'tzel, seconded by NosIer, Mr Knox was advised 'that 'the Ci't;y would stand one-half of 'the expense of suoh sewer oonnection.
