The Counoil met in regular aesBion at ,.:SO P. M. this date., Present. Mayor Wiley,
Councilmen Daugherty, Fhchborn, MeITill, Nosler, Redford, Weitzolo Absent. None
The minutes of the previous meeting _re read and approved as read.
Monthly reports of the Electrio, Street and Water Departments were read. aocepted
'and ordered plaoed on file.
A letter from the Ashland PlamUng COI!I:Il1ssion making recommendations following
the filing of petitions and the holding of a publio hearing waa read. This letter UD-
animously reoommended the approval of the petition involving blocks 400. SOO. 600 and
700 on North Main Street in' changing from a residential to a business district. It un-
animously rejected the petition of Mr. Winters in making'East Main Street into a bus-
iness district, atating that it oovered too muoh area for a needed business distriot>
at this time. It rejected the petition of the Ashland Real tlr Board with the exoeption
of North Main Street, some oonsideration waa given to the Boulevard. but action was
deferred.
C. M. Frazier waa present and spoke in favor of the recommended ohange.

Planning Commission in ohanging the 400 to 700 inolusive blooks on North Main Street
to basiness be approved and the Zoning Ordinance be(approved) amended aocordingly.
Carried following a unan6mous*~ roll call.
In connection With the opening of East Main Street to bUSiness, Mr. Winters talk-
ed in favor 01: same. It was moved by Redford that the Zoning Ordinance be amended to
include East Main Street from 4th Street to Mountain Avenue as open for bus~ss. aec-'

A petition signed by 78 people living on Siskiyou Boulevard opposing a ohange frCG
residential to business 1mS read.. Joe LeVeque spolle in favor of opening the Boulevard
to business and E.lmunrl Dows spoke at length in objection to opening same. It was final-
ly moved by Daugherty and seoonded by Merrill that the Boulevard remain as it is. I

A letter from C. P. Talent, Chief of Police concerning the jusisdiction of the
Police and Street Departments was read and discussed and referred to the Street for.

The City Sup't submitted a plat of' Bellvi... showing the looation of three streets
and one alley proposed for IIh1s area. Atter a disoussion, it 1mS moved by Daugherty and
seconded by Weitzel that the plat be approved and the work authorized. Carrieda
Sewers in the new Bellvtew Addition to tllll City of Ashland weredboussed.
Realtyl Proposed plans for the Chautauqua Park entrance _re approved uPllU IIlOtion
by Daugherty, seconded by Fisohbdlrn and carried. Briggs and Neil to pay their share of
the improvements adjacent to their buildings.
On IIIOtion, the Council adjourned to meet at the oall of' the Mayor.
