HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-1104 REG MIN The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley. Counoilmen Daugherty. Fisohborn, Merrill, Nosler, Redford. Weitzel. Absent. None. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. The monthly report of the City Judge was read. acoepted and prdered plaoed on file. Bilis amounting to $42,620.13 were read as to totel amount only. same having been oked by the various departments. oollllllittees and f~anoe collllllittee and were ordered paid. i A letter from Mrs. Arelene Dunkeson protesting agallmst the construction of the pro- , posed garage by Mr. Gilman on N1iIrsery Street was read. II Building permits numbered from 166 to 17li inolusive were approved upon motion made, ~seoonded and carried. Total of permits. $13.000.00. I The application of Melvin Kaegi for a package store license was approved upon motion by Daugherty, seconded by Fisohborn and carried. The Chief of Police gave his reasons for granting special parking spaces to Dr. Haines, Dr. Crandall and the Ashland Tidings. He also recolIllll8nded the operation of the Parking Meters from 9:00 A. M. to li:OO P. M. only. It was moved by Redford and seoonded by Nosler that the order setting the hours from 9:00 A. M. to 6:00 P. M. be resoinded and same set at from 9:00 A. M. to li:OO P. M. Carried. Fischborn stated that he favmred a special spaoe for Dr. Haines, but not for Dr. Crandall or the Tidings. Nosler favored a li minute parking~e at the Post Offioe on both sides of the street. It was moved by Weitzel and seconded by Fischborn that the Chamber of Commerce IIbve one space with five minute parking for out of town cars. Carried. It was moved by Merrill and seconded by Fischborn that Dr. Crandall be not given a spocial parking spaoe. Roll call showed: No.6, Yes O. Carried. ColDllli.ttee Reports: Realty: Fischborn reported that Dr. Stevenson of SOUTHERN OREGOli COLLIDE had a Camp White Theatre, Building which he wanted to have the City assist him with. It was moved by Fischborn and seoonded by Weitzel that the matter be referred to Realty Committee fOr investigation and report. Carried. The City Attornej read a proposed Resolution congratulating Senator Earl T. Newbry on his appointment as Secretary of State. It was moved by Weitzel and seconded by Red- I ford that the rules be suspended aild the resolution passed to the second'~ reading by I title only. Carried. Following the second reading, it was moved by Redford and seoonded by Nosler that the resolution be adopted as read and following a unanimous roll oall. . the Mayor deolaredr the ltl/olution adopted. . Healy. Secret~~hr ~mmerce, discussed solioitors and the Green River Ordinance. It was moved by Daugherty and seconded by Redford that the matter be referred to the City Attorney for a proposed ordinance. Carried. Air Port: On motion by Weitzel. seoonded by FJilsohborn, the matter of assisting the air port with granite or gravel was refel"red to the Street €lndlmi.ttee and City Sup't with ! power to act. Carried. : Upon the recommendation of C. P. TaleJlt. Chief of Polioe. it was moved by Fischborn I and seconded by Weitzel that a girl to assi\t the Recorder in handling the parking meter' money was authorized. Carried.
