Re.: Sr. Citizens' Tax Deferral Program
Dear Mayor & Council:
I regret that I may. not be attending the meeting tonight to speak for this
resolution. . Monday and. 'tuesday are my.full psychotherapy days with clients,
and there is also the chance that the item will be dropped because
of the lateness of the hour.
I have been working with Rep, Buckley and Sen. Bates,'whi are totally in
support of continuing the program.
I received the a.ttached e-mail from Rep.. Buckley on sunday.
. My only comment is about the "revenue of $100, OOO/yrsr".
is an eEgibility program with a .Emit of $39,500 income
for far. .fewer".tt:ems than the IRS or the State allow.
Fact is this
after deductions
~our consideration and support.

Property Tax Deferral
I'm continuing to work with the Revenue chairs and the Treasurer to revive the Senior Property Tax
Deferral program, and should have news on it this month. The current proposal is to limit the program
to seniors who have lived in their homes for at least five years, and who have revenue of less than
$100,000 per year, or some other set level. I will get details to you as soon as the proposals solidity.
