MI-MEAS, upon the recommendation of the commercial Club of the city of Ashland,
by and through a committee a:1pointed for the purpose, the common council is requbsted to
call a special election for the purpose of empowereing the eouneil to lease or sell, for
a term of not exceeding twenty-five years, whatever interest thb city has or may hereafter
acquire in and to the surplus mineral ;raters now being piped into the ci"y of ..shland, over
and above that consumed at the public fountains by the general public, said surplus waters
-to be used in a private sanitarium for bathing and other medicinal purposes, end
'Z"RRAS, the common counil has duly considered said recommendation and request,
and nor, doom it advisable that a special election be called for the purpose of amending
the Charter, to tho end 'hat the common council may be empowered to dispose of said
surplus enters as requested, and
"U-REAS, under cu thority granted to the city cou.cil, by lend under Section 6,
of Ordinance number 357, which ornlinance was duly approved on the 18th day of Sugust, 1908,
and authorizing the common council of the city of Ashland, Oregon, to call special elections,
at any time for the purpose of amending the Charter of said city, upon a resolution propose
by the said Common Council, •.:hich election shall only be held rafter due noticethereof, and
the appointment of judges -of said election, shall have been riven by publicrtion in a
ndwspaper, published in -the city of Asho nd, or by eonspieiouely posting P notice in each
of the ,.arils of said city, not less than ten days prior to any'such special election.
B017 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the common council of the city of Ashland
Oregon, in regular adjourned session assembled, this 6th dqy of Deoanber, 1916, that a
special election of the..qualified electors of the city of 'shland, be and hereby is called
and Pn-nointed to be held on Tuesday, the 19th (ley of Decembea,.1916, for the purpose of sub=
mitting_to.the cloctors- of grid city, t-he following amendment to the Chrrter of the city,
for the approval or rejection of said eleotors, to-wit:
