An ordinance providing for submission to the legal voters of the City of Ashland the question of determining a suitable site I for the proposed Carnegie Library building. ` WHEREAS, Mr. tindrew Carnegie has offered to donate the sum I of Fifteen Thousand Dollars for the erection of a free public library building in the City of Ashland, provided said City shall furnish a site for the same, AND 4VHRMAS, a joint committee of the common council of said City and of the Di.rectors of the Ashland Free Public Library have reported that they are unable to agree as to a suitable site for such building and recommend that two sites suggested to-.vit: the City Park mmd lot 1 and the west three-tenths of lot Pracht's Addition at tho.corner of Gresham Street and the Boulevard known as the Lottie Pracht Wilkins lot, be submitted to the legal voters of said city to determine the selection thereof for such site, now therefore, THL; PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS1 Section That a special election of the legal voters of the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, is hereby called to be held Monday, the 18th day of October, 1909 at which shall be submitted the selection of one of the sites aforesaid for the proposed Carnegie building for the Ashland Free Public Library and the City Recorder is hereby instructed to prepareAsuitable ballot title in accordance with city ordinance No. 357, which shall comprise a true and impartial ak%tRmBxk presentation of the two sites proposed ,and offered to the voters for, eel( Cat" n~" ~ `r Soction 2.
