ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ASHLAND MUNICIPAL CODE, CHAPTER 2.36 WITH RESPECT
TO THE INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM ELECTIONS TO ADD A NEW SECTION THERETO
RELATING TO SPECIAL ELECTIONS.
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2.36 of the Ashland Municipal Code, as
it relates to Initiative and Referendum, is hereby amended so as to
add thereto a new Section to read in its entirety as follows:
"2.36.070 SPECIAL ELECTIONS.
If the Council determines that the subject of an Initiative
or Referendum Petition is of general public interest, and there
is a general or primary election within 120 days of the date
requested in the Petition, it may order the election to be held
at such general or primary election."
The foregoing ordinance was first read at a regular meeting
of the Common Council held on the ,,,g/,4 day of 1988, and
passed to its second reading and duly passed on the day of
1988, the vote being as follows:
