Notice s hereby given that on the 22nd day of May, 1914
an Initiative Petition was regularly filed with the city recorder emandin~- that there be subrmitted to the legal

voters of said city, for their approval.or rejection, the herein-
below proposed ordinance, and the recorde-r. had duly verified the
number and genuineness of the signatures to said petition and
found the same to be in proper form and to contain more than 15

That there are hereby authorized to be issued the bonds of
- the city of Ashland, Oregon to the amount of One Hundred and Seventy
five Thousand ($175,000.00) Dollars, in denom-;_nations of One
Thousand (4;1000,00) Dollars, numbered consecutively- from one to
y seventy-five, both inclusive, and to be known as

from the date thereof; provided, that the first twenty-five of such

be redeemable at the option of the city of Ashland upon the

able at the option of the city of Ashland, upon the payment of the
face value thereof with accrued interest at the date of payment at
any semi-annual cupon paying period, at or after twenty years from
the date thereof; that the next twenty-five of said bonds numbered
from seventy-six to one hundred, both inclusive shell each be
redeemable at the option of the city of Ashland, u:non the payment
of the face value thereof with accrued interest to date of payment
at any semi-annual cupon paying period, at or after twenty-five years
from the date thereof; that --t.-he ne1-It twenty-five of said bonds
numbered from one hundred and one to one hundred and twenty-five,
both inclusive, shall each be rad.ee !,:able at the option of the city
of Ashland., upon the payment of the face value thereof, with accrued
interest to date of payment at any semi-annual cupon paying period,
at or after thirty years; that the next twenty-five of said bonds,
nu nfbered from one hundred and twenty-six to one hundred and fifty,
both inclusive, shall each be redeamable at the option of the city of
Ashland, upon the payment of the face value thereof, v ith accrued
interest to date of x. ayrrent at anv semi-annual- cupon paying period,

period at or after forty years and before forty-five years from
the date thereof. And notice stating that certain bonds are to
be taken up and canceled, and that the interest thereon shall cease
at the interest paying period next following, shall be published
in a newspaper printed and published and of general circulation in

Jackson county, Oregon, not le -a than three times during; the month

semi-annual cupon paying period, interest upon the bonds desig-
nated in said notice shall cease,

The Common Council shall sell such bonds, or so much thereof
as may be necessary at the highest price obtainable, but for not
less than par and accrued interest for the purpose of ~;roviding
E money to construct, build and install an auxiliary municipal water
system to be owned by the city of Ashland, Oregon, and to be
operated by said city or by any board or boards of commissioners
that may hereafter be created for such purpose; to extend pipe

lines from any spring or springs or other water supply, either
within or without the incorporate limits of said city and to any
points or places in or about said city and to purchase all ;pater
rights, rights of way, land, equipment, material, labor and supplies
necessary thereto.

The bonds hereby authorized shall be registered respectively
by number and denomination of each in the Bond Register, kept by
the Recorder of said city, and said bonds shall be in substantially
the following form:

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESFNTS, That the city of Ashland,
in the county of Jackson, state of Oregon, for value received here-
by agrees and pro:n13es to pay the bearer the sum of One Thousand
($1000.00) Dollars in gold coin of the United States of America,
on the presentation and surrender of this obligation on the 1st
day of July, 1959, without grace, with interest thereon from the

date hereof until redeemable at the rate of five (5) per cent per
,'nnur: , payable semi-annually, in like ;old coin on the let day
of July and January of each year on the presentation and suirrender
of the proper cupon hereto annexed. Principal and interest pay-
able at the office of the Treasurer of the city of A_-'land, Oregon.
This bond is one of a series of one hundred and seventy-five
bearing even date herewith and numbered consecutively from ome to
one hundred and seventy-five, both incs.usi ve, and amounting in the
aggregate to the sum of One Hundred Seventy-five Thousand
($175,000.00) Dollars, issued by the city of Ashland, Oregon, for
the purpose of j,:roviding :Money to construct, build and install an
auxiliary hater system to be o,vned bar the city of Ashland, Oregon,
and to be operated by said city or by any board or boards of com-
missioners that may hereafter be created for such purpose; to
extend pike lines fro-,fa any gyring or springs or other }rater supply,
either within or without the incorporate limits of said city and
to any point or places in or albout said citsr, and to ~.ur horse all
water rights, ri Pubs of way, land, equipment, material, labor and
supplies necessary thereto. The authority for such issue is
derived from Section 3 of Article VIII of the Charter of said city,
and is in compliance with the-majority vote of the electors of said
city at a special election duly called and held on the 9th day of
June, 1914.

SECTION 5.
The Mayor and Recorder of the city of A:~hland, Orecron, are
hereby authorized and required to make and execute in behalf of said
city, the Auxiliary Water Bonds specified in this ordinance to the
amount of One Hundred Seventy-five Thousand ($175,000.00) Dollars,
and -the Recorder shall advertiea such bands for sale, and the same
shall be =old for the highest price obtainable, but for not less
than par and accrued interest at five 5) per cent per annum from
