Councilr_nan Claycomb brought up the matter of putting up near street signs ti~here
needed. After some ~iscussi on it Trras gloved by Bergner seconded by Tayler that the
Street 1~epartment be authorized to bu`- u set of stencils and to mahk ull streets
on the curbs where possible. Carried.
Councilman Blake reported that the request of Is. l~~.tiFrks for ;~ermi~~ion to
keep chickens ~~rithin the city limi ~~s had been granted by the ~~_nitary Committee.
l~tioved by Bergner seconded by Tayler teat the Fire Department be instructed to
paint the dishpans on the front of the trucks to mat~'h the bodies. Carried.

Communication from the I:Tayor of the City of Reeding, California, extending to 4
the i'.ayor and Council an invitation to attend the meeting of the S,asta C~ scale
~`~onderland Association to be held Uct. 26th at Redding v~ras read. It was moved by
Tayler seconded by Bergner that X10.00 be set aside to send Councilman Claycor:b to
represent the City of Ashland ut the meeting. Carried.
Councilman ~~~Jenner recommended that ?,,r. C. ~1. l~cCorrniek be appointed Sexton of
Cemeteries. loved by Clayco~~b seconded by Tayler that the report of the Cemetery
Committee be approved and referred to the I~~yor for appointment. Carried.
The City Attorney reported that the Committee appointed to investigate the com-
plaint of Ir. and 7~rs. 1.°'~ahlsteh and others found there was no nuisance so far as the cow at wl5 Gresham Street tiaas concern~.~d. Ilot}never,
the Committee recommended that the
Council cause the removal of the spite fence on the ground that it constitutes ~
nuisance. Moved by 'r~ienner seconded by Tayler that ~,l~.e report of the Committee be accepted i
and action be taken as recommended. Carried.

The council next proceeded to consider a proposed city ordinance entitled "Orlin-
once authorizing the issuance of City Im,~rovement Bond in the matter of laying a side-
walk in Smdeuralk J7istrict Igo. J.1~ The ordinance having been read the first time, on ~
motion, the rules were suspended, six voting in favor thereof, and the ordinance was
passed to the second reading. Kaving begin read the second time, roll call was ordered
on its adoption. The vote was as folloti~rs: Ayes Bergner, Blake, Claycomb, Kersey,
Tayler, ~~~~'enner; nays none. Thereupon the Acting t:~yor declared City Ordinance ~o. 897 adopted.
The council next proceeded to consider a proposed city ordinance entitled "Ordin-
ante authorizing the issuance of a City Improvernent Bond in the matter of laying a

read the first time, on r~lotion, the rules ~~rere suspended, six voting in favor thereof,
