Special: Claycnmb reported further on his negotiations concerning the air part im- provemen~: - Dr. u'~oods, City Health Officer was present and explained the new law relating to the County Board of health personnel for cities under 5000 population. Moved by Gregg that the City endorse the plan. Seconded by ~1'ayler. Carried. 1'he amendment of section 3 and section 4 of Article 11 of City Ordinance No. 695 was brought up and following some discussion, it was moved by Zininger that the rules be sus- pended and the ordinance amendment be passed an the second reading ny title only. Second- ed by Gregg. Roll was called as follows: Ayes C'laycomb, Zininger, Gregg, ~l'ayler, Nays, Bergner, Fenner. Having been read the second time, it was moved by Zininger and seconded by Gregg that the ordinance be adopted. Roll call was ordered on its adoption and the vote was as follows: Ayes, Clayeomb, Zininger, Gregg, ~i~ayler; Nays, Bergner, ~Yenner. There- npon, the Mayor declared the amended ordinance adopted. (Referred to reduction in range rates.) A letter of agreement from the California Oregon Power Company, concerning the co- operative sale of appliances was upon motion by Clayeomb, seconded by Tayler, accepted. Carried. Plans for the remodeling of the Recorder's Office in order to provide a display rooa and model kitchen were inspected. On motion, the council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor. , yor. Present Mayor Ailey; Councilmen Bergner, Clayeomb, Gregg, Tayler; absent Councilmen Zininger Fenner. The purpose of the meeting was to open bids for a car load of pipe, fittings and valves for the Mater Department. A11 bids having been opened and found according to specifications upon motion by Clayeomb, the bid of the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. (the lowest for pipe at X1813.00 and fittings at X97.49 was accepted. Seconded by Ta ler. Carried. Moved by Tayler that the bid of the Rensselaer Valve Co.~the lowest y for hydrants at X48.80 and gate valves for X104.45 be accepted, seconded and carried. Z. E. Caul made a report on the cost of material for the Chautauqua stage floor Area 360 sq, feet. Two inch concrete X295.00; lam concrete X227.00; Emulsified asphalt X100.00. Moved by Clayeomb that asphalt be recommended to the Park Board and ask that contact be made with the C. W. A. to see if 300 of the cost of material can be secured. Seconded by Tayler, carried. Moved by Gregg that Caul be authorized to get material to fig piers under the floor. Seconded by Bergner. Carried. i Moved by Bergner that the Light Superintendent prepare plans and specifications as per sketch exhibited and ask for bids complete except for lighting. Seconded by 'ayler. Carried. r The question of the purchase of a cloak from the Postal `t'elegraph Company, elect- . rieally operated, for ;2$.80 to replace the 9~~'estern Union clock which costs15.00 per year purely for rental purposes was referred to Biegel, Superintendent of the Light Department for comparison of prices. i The question of a buzzer from the Recorders Office to the Chief of Police's Office for use in case of an emergency was brought up. Moved by Bergner that Biegel, Superiny- endent of the Light Department secure prices of the buzzers. Seconded and carried. Moved by Clayeomb that the Mayor and City Engineer P~alker secure deeds to the Templsr and Walls property on Terrace Street getting same signed to -morrow and legal advise on 1 necessary procedure. Seconded by Bergner. Carried.
