Light: Blake submitted the names of TIrs. Belle Sch~vein, 19 Granite Street and
Tiary J. TJorth, 39I Granite for free light ans water, rnaking in the form of a motion,
same to be effective to January 1, 1935. Seconded and carried.
Hiegel reported that the Formal School had objected to paying minimum rates for
light on three meters and asT~ed that the readings be added ta-gether arld payment be
made on the basis of one meter minimum, same being done at ot~ier places where other State schools were located. They had asked for tale change to
be retroactive to January 1, 1934,
the amount of rebate being about X19.00. ~~Ioved by ~~enner that the request from the
Tdormal School which had been approve. by Siegel be accepted and that the rebate of about
X19.00 be authorized, and future rates be based upon a one minimum meter basis. Seconded
by Gregg. Carried.

Hosler reported on proposed a.E.R.A. projects to ~e done by the eater Department
as follows:

Fire: Tayler reported an the fire replacement for the fire truck. Baughman stated
that the wheels could be ta~_en off and tires put on at a total net cost of about X340.00. 4.'
Same having been included in the 1935 budget, It was moved by Applewhite that the Fire
Chief be authorized to have t'r.e tires fixed on the fire truck. Seconded by Blake. Roll
call was ordered, the vote being, Ayes 6, Plays 0. Carried.
Street: Davis reported that hrs. Godfre~r on Grandview Drive wanted pay for an apple
tree which had been cut down to ma~Le way for a road. ~~iovea by Bergner that the matter
be referred to the Street Co~~imittee and tree City Attorney for report. Seconded by ',denner,
carried.
Realty: ~~enner reported that d'dm. Ross vaantea to use the empty lots belonging to the (ity near ,Mountain Avenue anu past gain atreets, making
the motion. aeconded by Bergner,
carried.
Cemetery: r~~ioved by ~lenrler that the :sexton be authorized to purchase 10 or 15 concrete
rough boxes to try out. Seconded by Tayler, carried.
Lhe City Attorney made his report on the Fairview Tiotel, stating the legal aspects of the case only. %ovea by Tayler that the City attorney confer
with the .~istriet Attorn-
ey with reference to the case oi' r3riggs wrec~.ing the .Fairviewa Hotel aria asked that immedi-
ate action be taken to prevent further wrecking of said building. Seconded by .Make,
carried.

The Council: met in` special session a~ 5~ 1?'. lI, this. date. Present Mayor '`~aley;
Councilmen Appletivhite, Bergner, Blake, Gregg, Tayler, ~~lenner; absent none.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider the advisability of withdrawing the suit
s~ pending between '~~m. ~I. Briggs and the City of Ashland on the uarecl;ing of the Fairview ,ti Hotel building, Fourth and B Streets.

Loved by ~~~enner, after some discussion, that oti~aing to the comparative small value
remaining in the building; at Lhe corner of Fourth and B Streets, belonging to u~m. M.
Briggs, and now in the process of being wrecked, the suit instituted bLY the City be withdrawn and the matter turned over to the County to be handled
in the regular way,
Seconded by Blake, carried.
Need for fertilizer for the Hospital was brought up. T~Ioved by AT~plewhite that the
City purchase .42.00 worth of fertilizer, seconded by Gregg. Carried.
On motion, the Council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor.
