Present: Mayor Wiley, Pr .fix.:' Councilmen Applewhite~ Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Ingle, Wenner. Absent: None a~' A request for an option on some city property on "B'~ and Water Streets from the Southern Oregon Gas Corporation was discussed. Moved by Wenner that the Southern Oregon ~ ,Gas Corporation be granted a 15 day option to purchase the old warehouse site at the g .corner of "B" and Water Streets for X800.00. The option price to be X25.00 and the City to reserrve the right to take off a 10 foot strip to widen "B" street when sa desired. Seconded by Blake. Carried. Applewhite brought up the Boulevard and Zinemin Street pipe line ~ro~ects which had been petitioned for. The estimates for the pipe were submitted by Hosler at approx- ~u imately X4209.00. Moved by Wenner that the Recorder ask for bids for approximately ~f X4200.00 worth of material for the B~ulevar d and Lincoln Street pipe line, same to be opened on Friday night, February 5, 1935 at 8 P. Seconded by Hansen. Carried. The cutting off of water for non-payment of bills was brought up by Hosler. Moved by Nennar that the City Attorney prepare an amendment to the Water Ordinance making it a misdemeanor for using water cut off by the Water Department and providing fora penalty for so doing. Present: Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Applewhite, Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Ingle Wenner. Absent: None The hour having arrived for hearing of ob~eetions against the vacation proceedings '~T on the 17 foot strip of land on Skidmore Street and no objections being brought up, the City Attorney was authorized to proceed with the vacation. Representatives from the Al1is-Chalmers and Caterpillar Tractor Companies were pre- sent and were asked to address the council. Mr. Howard spoke in favor of the former, quoting a price of X1775.00 and Mr. Powers spoke in favor of the latter, quoting a price of X2190.00. Plans were made to hold a demonstration of the tractors within the near future. a Plans for remodelling the City Hall were discussed. Moved by ~tennsr that Applewhite ` and Biegel complete the plans for the City Hall and include it in a SSA project if poss- e ible. Seconded by Hansen. Carried. The City Attorney read a proposed ordinance providing far the office of City Super- intendant. Following some discussion, it was moved by Wenner that the rules be suspended and the ordinance passed to the second reading by title only. Seconded by Grp g. Carried. Having been read the second time by title, it was moved by Wenner that the ordinance be adopted as read. Seconded by Gregg. Roll call was ordered on its adoption, the vote being, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Thereupon, the Mayor declared City Ordinance Np. 938 adopted. Following the passage of the ordinance the Mayor announced that he wished to appoint Elmer Biegel as City Superintendent. Moved by Wenner that the appointment be approved. Seconded by Blake. Roll call was ordered, the note being Ayes 6, Nays 0. Carried. r The salary ordinance was next brought up „all city employees being excused during the deliberations. laved by Gregg that the ruins be suspended and the ordinance passed to the second reading by title only. Seconded by Fenner. Carried. Having bean read the second time, it was moved by Blake and seconded by Gregg that the ordinance be adopted as read. Roll call was ordered on its adoption, the vote being, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Thereupon the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 939 adopted.(This ordinance provided for the same k~ ~yr salaries as the previous salary ordinance The free list for water and light customers for the period from January 1 to June 30, 1935 was read. Moved by Wenner that the list be approved as read. Seconded by Blag e. Carried. A list containing the names of persona and amounts due the city which were recommend- ed as being dropped or transfered from the active accounts was read. Moved by Blake and seconded by Wenner that the list be approved as read. Carried. Moved by Blake that the rules be suspended and the ordinance passed to the second reading by title only. Seconded by Ingle. Carried. Having been read the second time by title, it was moved by Ingle that the ordinance be adopted as read. Seconded by Blake. Roll call was ordered, the vote being, Ayes 69 Nays 0. Carried. Thereupon, the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 940 adopted. dgu.
