Present: Mayor Ailey, Councilmen Applewhite, Gregg, Hansen, Wenner and. later Blake. Absent: Ingle. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss changes in the water ordinance and the printing of the annual financial statement of the City of Ashland for the year 1934. G. M. Green of the Daily Tidings and Loenard Hall of the Southern Oregon Miner were u present and asked to address the council. Both responded with arguments in favor of their respective papers. Auer some discussion, it was suggested by Hansen that the. matter be teken up at the next regular meeting of the council when a full membership would be pre- sent and further discussion was thereupon dropped. 'Er. The City Attorney read a proposed ordinance amending the water ordinance and eon- siderable discussion followed, but no action taken pending a more thorough study into the probable effect of these changes on the water revenues and consumers rates. Biegel, City Superintendent also brought up other points which were discussed, ._.s On motion, the council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor. a r ~;j. MayQ~ Attest: . Recorder Ashland, Oregon, February 19, 193 5 No. 7 The council met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Appler~hite, Blake, Gregg, Hansen, Ingle, Wenner. Absent: None. .r The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved as read. ~AY Monthly reports of the Library, Light, Water, Recorder and Street 8epartments, and the annual reports of the Park and Street Departments were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. The hour of eight having arrived, hearing on the vacation proceedings on the Ira Reeder property at 85 Second Street was announced. There being no one present to protest these proceedings, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare the ordinance for the vaa- anon of this property. The time having arrived for opening the bids on the tractors and equipment, bids from the following firms were read: Miller Tractor and Lghipment Co., Brewer Tractor and Eq- uipment Co., and the Howard-Cooper Corporation. Following the reading of the bids, it was moved by Blake that the bids be referred to the Street and Light Committees for report back to the council. Seconded and carried. The question of publishing the annual statement of the City of Ashland was the next order of business. After some discussion, it was moved by Ingle that the Tidings have the printing of the annual statement for 1934. Seconded by Gregg. Roll call was ordered, the vote being, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Carried. Plans for the heating system of the Community Hospital were presented by Hansen. These plans were prepared by ~'~m Laing and Mr. Laing was called upon to discuss them, which he did, going into considerable detail. The matter v~ras tabled however without any action contemplated for the immediate f~iture. A Hammon, 8 Beach Avenue, addressed the council, stating that his water had been turned off and that he was unable to pad' for same. Following some discussion, it was moved by Blake that the matter beyreferred to the ~'~ater Committee with power to act. Seconded by Hansen. Carried. Mr. Chas. A. ~'~hite of Belleview addressed the council requesting that a certain ex- tension in the pipe line be made when the Boulevard pipe line was put in. Moved by Wenner and seconded by Hansen that the matter be referred to the hater Committee to report back. Carried. } Bills from Applewhite for gas ~ oil etc for X23,30 and the Hardy Hardware for plumb- ing by Jerry O'Neal for X53.35 were presented. Motiions made by Wenner and Applewhite re- epectively on these bills for their payment were seconded and carried. The application of Mrs. M. Patter son, 43 Church Street for free lights and water was presented. Loved by Gregg and seconded by Hansen that her name be restored to the free list. Carried.  A Bills presented by the Pa*k Commission for approximately 6200000 were presented by Mr. Biegel. These expenses being on account of SERA projects which the Park had not bud- geted for. Moved by Wenner that these bills be paid from the Emergency account of the Geheral Fund. Seconded by Gregg. Carried.
