The City Attorney read a proposed traffic ordinance concerning parallel parking. ~~oved by Ingle and seconded by Blake that clauses C ~ D of Sec. 13 of the proposed ordinance be deleted. `1'he motion was lost. Moved by Tngle and seconded "by Hansen that the ordinance be passed to the second reading, by title only, the rules being suspended. Carried. Having been read the second time by title, it was moved by Blake and seconded by Applewhite that the ordin- ance be adopted as read. Roll call was ordered on its adoption, the vote being ryes 5, Nays 0. Carried. Thereupon the ~~~ayor declared City Ordinance _~,~o. 94$ adopted. Absent; Councilmen Blake, Gregg~, Ingle. r~onthly reports of the City Dump Ground Supt. and the City Recorder for the month of July were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. Bills amounting to X9253.21 ~•~ere read as to total amount only, same having been oked by the finance committee. ~F~oved by Applewhite and seconded by Hansen that the bills be allowed. Roll call ~~1as ordered, the vote being, Ayes 3, Nays 0. Carried. Applications for the following b wilding permits were presented: No. 22. To remodel dwelling at 247 Oak Street at an approximGte cost of X500.00 by E. 0. Smith. No. 23. To remodel room at 607 Iowa Street at an approximate cost of X105.00 by Y. 'l'ard Craft. Flo. 24. To make miscellaneous repairs on a dwelling at 832. "B" Street at an approximate cost of X100.00 by Wm. E. Gould for Jack White. Moved by ~v'enrier and seconded by kpplewhite that the permits be granted. Carried. Jord~~~n for wine which had received the recommendation of the Chief of Police be accepted. Seconded r.y Hansen. Carried. F. T. Staples was present and spoke on the subject of liquor licenses, Prot=sting the limiting of wine licenses to three as suggestec: by the Chief of Police. Fleet insurance on city automobiles was discussed. ~~oved by d'denner that the insurance on the fleet be referred to the city attorney for report at the next meeting. Seconded by Hansen. Carried. A letter from the Oregon State Board of Aeronautics was read and referred to the air port committee. The letter stressed the importance of getting funds from the WPA for air port construction. Committee Reports: } Electric: Low bids on copper wire and poles were a s follows: Copper wire, General ~'lectric Co. X1056.50. Poles, McFarland Co. X1019.60. Seconded by Hansen. Carried.  A letter from Mary J. North regarding free water was referred to the .pater Com- mittee upon motion by Applewhite, seconded by Hansen and carried. Realt : Hansen reported that fie hair received an of-fer of X300.00 for the City property formerly occupied by Wards and being on East Ilain Street. Payments were to be $25.00 down and $10.00 per month until the balance was paid. Drafting of the agreement was referred to the City Attorney. f , rh~Y vvP~~ + ~.1 ~.l Applewhite reported that ~~r. Thompson, WPA Superintendent ~^ranted t o address the Council and business men and arrangements were made for Friday Night. T, The Mayor made a re~:~ort on his administration during the past 22 years showing the great amount of savings which had been effected and other economy measures which had been put into operation. Staples comp limented the ~~ayor on his fine report and suggested that it be published. He also asked that all city real estate be listed with all real estate agents in town. The meeting had been ' preceded by an executive session from 7:30 P. lob. to 9:30 P. '~2. Present : ~~~a~~or ~~~iley, ~r, ` Councilmen Applev,~hite, Blake, Hansen, t':!enner. Absent: Councilmen ~:.~regg, Ingle. The purpose of the meeting v~ras to arrive at u settlement with the firm of Lybrand, Ross Bros., & Montgomery, auditors, for the audit of the city books for 1933 and the installation of an accounting system. ts. R. Stearns and ~s. R. i,. Aikin were present representing the firm. During the course of the executive session, a price of X1000.00 had been finally agreed upon for complete settlement of the balance owing on the audit and system. Proved by Hansen that the offer of~1000..00 ~'or complete settle- ment of the account be accepted. Seconded by Applev~~hite. Roll call v~~as ordered, the vote being, Ayes 4, Nays 0. Carried. A bill for x;75.00 from the Cit~T I~ttorney for services rendered in connection with the settlement .with Lybrand, Ross Bros. A letter from the Ashland Chamber of Commerce asking for X1200.00 from the City for advertising for 1936 was read. ~~oved by xpplewhite and seconded by Hansen that the letter be referred to the Budget Committee.
