Ashland, Oregon, October 1, 1935 No. 31 . ayor i~`iley, The council met in regular session at 7 :30 P. this date Present : Councilmen Applewhite, Gregg, ~~ansen, Ingle> ~~~enner. ~~bsent: Councilmen Blake. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved as read. I~~onthly reports of the Dump Ground Supt. and the ~'ity Judge were reed, accepted, and ordered placed on file, the former subject to investigation of amount charged for garbage hauling from the SFP~A kitchen. A~,~ Bills amounting to X8382,39 were read us to total amount only, same having been eked by the Finance Committee. :Moved by Appler,~hite and seconded by Hansen that the bills be allowed. Carried. Applications for the following building permits were presented: No. 27. To re-roof house at 639 N. ~:~ain with composition roofing at an approximate cost of X185.00 by P. R. Hardy. No. 2$. To re-roof house at 470 Boulevard with composition roofing at an approx- imate cost of X272.00 bar P. R. ~~ardy. Na. 29. To re-roof house at 72 6th Street with. com~asition roofing at an approx- imate cast of X135.00 by F. R. Hardy. No. 30. To re-roof house at 74 3rd Street with composition roofing at an ~,pprox- imate cost of X130.00 by P. R. uardy. No. 31. To re-roof house at 383 Avery Street with composition roofing at an approximate cost of X292.00 by P. R. Tardy. Na. 32. Carried. fir. ~~urray of Russell, Hoppe, Ste~rart and Balfour, Investment Securities, addressed the council on the subject of investing the city's surplus funds in government secur- ities instead of leaving same at the banks at ~ of 1~ interest. ~;o action was taken. ~~r. ~`~hiting spoke on accounting ferns and recounting machines and f ollowing s ome discussion, it was moved by Ingle that a ca m~~~ittee consisting of the Chairman of the Finance Committee, City Recorder, and City superintendent meet with Ids. Whiting and decide on the accounting machines to be purchased. Secondea by Hansen. Carried. I~4r. Fuller addressed the council on the status of r•e-housing project on ~lorth Fain Street ands,asking that a member of the council be appointed to work with him. Mx. Hansen of the Realty committee was appointed by the r~~ayor. Calvin I~~cClellan of the Claycomb l~~otor Co. spoke about the new Ford truck which was coming out shortly. Committee Reports: Mater and bight: Free lights and water for ~~rs. Bomar ana ass. Skidmore were ~ deferred for further investigation. Realt : Hansen reported on the status of the lease with ~.t~r. .Burns for city v proper~v e wanted to use f'or i'arming. A letter from the ~.shlana Chamber of Commerce concerning the appointment of a committee on stop signs on all streets intercepting the Pacific Highway was read. It was moved by Hansen that the '~:°ayor write a letter of condolence to T~1m.
