THE PURPOSES OF SUBMI'FI'ING TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY A MEASURE FOR A THREE-YEAR
SERIAL TAX RATE LEVY TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE
CITY SWIMMING POOL PROGRAM AND RECREATION FACILITIES; WITH THE LEVY TO BE ASSESSED
BEYOND THAT NOW AUTHORIZED BY ARTICLE XI, SECTION 11, OF THE OREGON CONSTITUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF ASHLAND AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A Special Election Is called to be held In the city of Ashland, Oregon, on May 21, 1996, at
which election there shall be referred to the voters for their adoption or rejection the following proposed
measure:
CAPTION:
THREE-YEAR SWIMMING POOL AND RECREATION FACIUTY MAINTENANCE
SERIAL LEVY.
QUESTION:
Shall Ashland levy 9¢ per thousand dollars assessed value to operate swimming
pod programs and maintain recreation fac~ities beginning 1996-19977.
EXPLANATION:
This measure authorizes a maximum levy of nine cents (9¢) per thousand dollars
of true cash value of taxaide property to permit swimming pod program fees to
be at a reasonaide price and to provide rnalntenence of recreation facilities. It is
estimated that a levy of 9¢ per thousand ddlars of assessed value would
provide $102,600 In 1996-97, $106,650 In 1997-98, and $110,970 In 1998-99.
The tax levy Is subject to the other governmental limits of Section 11 b, Article XI,
of the Oregon Constitution.
SECTION 2. The city recorder is requested and directed to give due notice of such special election as
provided in the laws of the State of Oregon and the charter and ordinances of the City of Ashland,
Oregon.
The foregoing resolution was READ and DULY ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Ashland on the ~
