A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 82-42 RELATIVE
TO CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR MANAGEMENT AND
CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, the League of Oregon Cities Group Insurance Trust clari-
fied its policies relative to retirees; and
WHEREAS, existing City benefit programs for retirees are at
variance with that policy; and
~EREAS,
the League Trust has agreed to provide an exception to
continue the benefit offered to one early retiree under
the present City policy; and
IfHEREAS,
it is the desire of the City to bring its policy into
accord with League Trust policies with respect to future
retirees.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section 4 of Resolution No. 82-42 shall be amended to
read as follows:
"SECTION 4. A new Section 11 shall be added to Appendix "C"
of Resolution No. 79-55, which shall read as follows:
'Section 11. MedicaI Insurance for Retirees.
Any employee retiring after July 1, 1982 with fifteen
(15) or more years of service with the City, and who
is eligible for Medicare, shall be provided with Blue
Cross Medichec 65 coverage with the premiums to be
paid by the City. Early retirees who have fifteen (15)
years with the City, and who are age 60 or older, shall
be provided with a monthly check equivalent to the cur-
rent cost of Blue Cross Medichec 65 coverage until they
reach age 65, after which they will be enrolled in said
Medichec coverage and the premiums will then be paid by
the City.'"
SECTION 2. The present early retiree who is being allowed to
participate in the group policy for management employees, shall be
permitted to continue to participate until that retiree qualifies
for Medicare, at which time the provisions of Section 11 above
will apply.
The foregoing Resolution was READ and DULY ADOPTED at a regular
z ng of the City Council of the City of Ashland on the J/~day of
