Box 928 Salem, Oregon 97308 Dear League Partners, The City of Ashland is honored to participate in the Legacy 2000 time capsule. Please find the enclosed Ashland Fiber Network Business Plan. This business plan was chosen because it represents cutting-edge telecommunications at the end of the twentieth century. Who, in the end of the nineteenth century, could have imagined how telecommunications would develop? The thought of television, cable TV, computers, and internet access was beyond even the most forward thinking inventor. Perhaps in another 100 years telecommunications will no longer resemble the systems so widely used today. Just as the old hand-crank phones have faded into the past, television sets, cable converter boxes, personal computers, and cable intemet access may find the same fate. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this project. The City of Ashland is proud of its historical significance in the Rogue Valley and the State of Oregon. Enclosed you will find a brochure about "Legacy 2000". Our hope is to have all cities participate in this project. The League has already received several interesting items. For example, Pendteton sent a booklet about the city, Veneta and Roseburg a city pin, and Beaverton a copy of their city charter. These are just a few examples of what your city could contribute, or use your imagination and get really creative. Please help us reach our goal of 100% participation by sending us some small token of your city. If you have any questions, or need more information after reading the enclosed brochure, please contact Dianne Huddleston, (503) 588-6550 at the League. Hope to hear from yob soon and thanks!
