HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924-001 Auto Camp ImprovementsEESOLUTION day of ~"lcm,~,~ Calling a special election to be held on the 1924, for the purpose of permitting the qualified electors of the City of Ashland to vote upon the proposition as to whether the Co~fimon Council of the City of Ashland shall issue bonds in 'an amount not exceeding ~10,000.00 to be expended by the Ashland Park Commissio$ for such extension equipment and. ~mprovement of the municipal auto csm~p in Askl&nd Oregon, as said Ashland Park Commission may deem best. ~HEi~AS, by petition of the Ashland Park Commission dated February 5, 192~, the said Ashlarld Park Com~nission did request of the [~[ayor and Co~:mon Council of the City of Ashland to call a special election of the electors of the City of Ashland at as early a date as practicable for the purpose of securin~ an authorization from said electors for the issuance of bonds by the ~/~.ayor and Co~nmon Council of said City in an amount not exceeding $10,000.00, to be expended by the Ashland Park Com~.~ission in such~anner as they may deem best for the e_~:tension and improvm~ent of the municipal auto canto in Ashland, Oregon, and ~EqEP~AS, in said petition, the said Ashla. nd Park Com~nission requested that said $10,000.00 issue of bonds to be authorized at said special election, be of the denomination of ~1000.00 each, with interest at not to exceed six per cent per annum, said bonds to constitute a general obligation of the City and to be serial in nature, and $1000.00 of said bond issue to be retired each year, and WHEREAE, it ham been reported to t~he ~[ayor and Common Council that the earnir~s of the municipal auto camp in said City for 1922 were $ and for 1923 ~ and that the business of the said m. unicipal auto camp will undoubtedly increase year by year, and '~r~REA~, i~ has £urther been reported that the bond issue, if a~thorized at said special election Gould and should be retired by a sinking fund to be set aside frGn the revenues of said 'munici~l auto ca~np without subjecting the people to any increased taxes for the payment thereol~, and WHEREAS, the municipal auto catnip is one of the most productive asse~$ which the Gity of~~ P0S~ ~nd ~ A'Shland Park Commission should be supported in their efforts to provide for the betterment of said municipal auto camp, NOW THEREFORE, BE. IT HEREBY RESOL~D, by the ~ayor and Common Council of t?~ City of Ashland: Section lo That a special election of the legal voters of said City of Ashland be held on the 12th day of Earch, 1924, at which time there shall be submitted the following proposition to be voted upon by the eualified electors of said Cit.¥.of Ashland: Shall the ~ayor and Cormnon Council of the City of ~A~land issue ~Munieipal Auto Cmnp Improve~n~t Bond~' 'el the City of .Ashland up to the amount of $10,000.00, said bonds to be orr the denomination of $1000.00 each, and numbered from one to ten inclusive, and to be serial in character,--the first $1000.00 of said issue to be made payable one year frcm the date thereof and $1000.00 made p~yable each year thereafter.until the entire issue shall have been paid, said bonds to constitUte a general obligation of the City of Ashls~d, and to bear interest at the rate of not more than six per cent per annum, payable semi-annually until redeemable at the office of the City Treasurer of said City of Ashland, Oregon; PROVIDED, further, that the proceeds from the sale of said bonds shall be expended by the Ashland Par~o~nmission in SUch manner as th~ey may deeTM best for the enlarging, equipping and betterment of the Ashland ~,~unicipal Auto Camp ground; and PROVIDED, further, that from the revenues of said auto camp ground there shall be set aside each year in priority over any other purpose or purposes and as a municipal auto camp improvement bond redemp- tion Fund, a sum sufficient to meet ............... the payments of principal and interest on said bonds as they shall bec omc due. · ~ ~ Section 2. an d~;]~~ /~d~.J'~ are ~ re by appointed aa judges and ~.~ ~/LA~,~ for th~ Second Wa~d in said and ~ ,~-~~ , are hereby appointed as judges City; that the City Hall ia hereb, y designated as the voting place for the First Ward and what is known as the Fire Station on Fourth Street as the Voting place in the Second Ward, in said City. The City Recorder is hereby required and directed to give uotice of such speciaI election and the appointment of such judges of election by publication thereof in the Ashland Tidings, a newspaper published in the City of Ashland. That in all particulars, said Special Election shall be conducted in conformity with Article Four of the Oity Gharter of the City of Ashland.
